The current option is to Mute for Everyone, and it stays muted until manually reversed.

Solution Brainstorm

Similar to how we handle Issue status, allow for a dropdown to mute until certain thresholds/criteria are met.

Farther off, allow suppression to be configured right from the messenger alert (ex. - Slack, MS Teams)

@kpujjigit - thanks for filing this issue. In your examples I see both metric & issue alerts being mentioned. Can you share more about the use case, for example what types of thresholds/ criteria are important to consider for muting, and why the current implementation is insufficient?

We have a similar use case. During our monthly maintenance windows, hundreds of Sentry alerts are generated requiring our teams to review each alert even though they were all triggered by the maintenance. There should be a "Mute for Everyone Until" option where at least a timeframe can be set. Better yet, include an option to mute alerts on the Project or Organization levels so an admin can go into Sentry and set the maintenance windows at what level is needed so alerts are not generated.

In the current state, we would have to keep a list of all generated issues that happened at the last window then manually go in and hit "Mute for Everyone" on each then unmute manually after the window is closed. Being the process is manual on both ends, alerts can be missed or unmuting can be forgotten. This process is not scalable and prone to error. Having the system handle these and having the mute options at the Issue, Project and Organization levels would allow a one time, one place setting that the system would handle every time the scheduled maintenance was set.

I reviewed the API docs to see if there was a way to leverage an API(s) to do this, but I could not find a good fit.
