accented letter input isn't working on MacOS

Hello.

I am learning chinese and I made a small system to create flashcards and add items. However, for the pronunication part I'd like to use àáǎā and so on, and I usually type those by pressing the key and holding. the holding part does not work in Ghostty and it instead repeat the letter.

I know I can work around this from the other end of the process by typing a1 and replacing it with ā for example, but I'm hoping for a way to do it all from Ghostty's end.

We disabled ApplePressAndHoldEnabled on purpose so that repeated key events make it through to our terminal views.

You can enable it if you want: defaults write com.mitchellh.ghostty ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool true

Well, even when you enabled the defaults the key repeats still won't stop, created an issue for this: #13168

Another workaround is that some keyboard layouts allow you to activate a dead key by holding option and pressing a certain key to enter `´ˇ¯ mode, then you press the letter you want (a in this case). Try option + e then a. That gives me á. Try activating the keyboard viewer and holding option; the keys that turn orange are dead keys.
