Issue Description

Dead key characters (backtick `, tilde ~, and caret ^) produce no output in Ghostty terminal. These keys work correctly everywhere else in the system (browsers, other GUI applications, and other terminal emulators).

Expected Behavior

Dead key characters (`, ~, ^) should produce their respective characters

Actual Behavior

These keys produce no output and generate no events detectable by evtest when Ghostty has focus

Reproduction Steps

1. Keys work in: Firefox, Chrome, all GUI applications, xterm, and other terminal emulators
2. Keys DON'T work in: Ghostty (no output at all for `, ~, ^)
3. evtest results: When Ghostty has focus and these keys are pressed, sudo evtest shows NO events for these keys
4. Not a system issue: Problem doesn't occur with new user accounts, confirming it's application-specific
5. Not shell-related: Issue persists in sh, bash, and zsh -f when running in Ghostty
