DBnary documentation

At various places in this repository, we remark that we're not sure where something is specified in the DBnary documentation. It's therefore worth listing what DBnary documentation we are aware of.

  • DBnary website

    • Publications page - lists 6 publications and 1 presentation between 2012 and 2017. Note that there have been other publications since then not listed here.
      • A relatively recent publication is: Gilles Sérasset. 2025. Towards Sense to Sense Linking across DBnary Languages. In Proceedings of the 5th Conference on Language, Data and Knowledge, pages 318–327, Naples, Italy. Unior Press.
      • But the above publication cites as methods the 2015 paper that we remark elsewhere is a bit out of date.
    • Online access - this has 14 sample queries on the page and also links to Sina Ahmadi's query generator. Most of the sample queries work. One is incorrectly using dct:language instead of now lime:language. A syntax error is removed when this is fixed but the query times out.
    • News - there are 50 news entries over the last 14 years
  • DBnary repository

    • There's a tutorials folder at the top level with two folders: jupiter-python and sparql. The latest commits for both folders are from 2022. The last commit for the sparql folder remarks that SPARQL tutorials are now part of their own repository, which we think refers to this.
      • We haven't checked the Jupyter notebooks.
    • There are 8 example queries in the kaiko/queries folder
    • There's a README.md, mostly with technical details on how to run the extractor
  • DBnary-dashboard repository

    • There is a docs folder here, but only with details about the dashboard front-end
    • The actual queries used to populate the dashboard data are in: plugins/dbnary-dashboard/src/public/ts/wp-api/sparql.get.tsx, but the kaiko/queries folder we already mentioned in the other repository also gives sufficient information.
