Download SmartTubeTizen-0.2.0-unsigned.wgt from Assets below. It contains the complete bundled application; you do not need Node.js or to build the source yourself.

This package is unsigned. It cannot be installed directly until you sign it with a Samsung TV certificate profile for your own TV. This is an experimental pre-release, not a universal one-click installer or a Samsung store release.

Install the downloaded WGT

  1. Install Tizen Studio with TV Extensions and Samsung Certificate Extension. Enable Developer Mode on the TV, set Host PC IP to your computer, and restart the TV.
  2. Create your own Samsung TV certificate profile including your TV's DUID. Connect through Device Manager and permit application installation.
  3. Extract the downloaded WGT (it is a ZIP archive) into a new folder named app. If your archive tool requires it, rename a copy to .zip first. No source compilation is needed.
  4. With Tizen Studio's tools on your PATH, run the following, replacing the placeholders:
sdb connect <TV_IP>
sdb devices
tizen package -t wgt -s <CERTIFICATE_PROFILE> -- app
tizen install -t <TARGET_NAME> -n <SIGNED_PACKAGE.wgt> -- app
tizen run -t <TARGET_NAME> -p StTizen001.Port

Use the target name from sdb devices and the signed filename printed by the packaging command. Keep your author certificate for future updates. See the full setup guide and Samsung's CLI documentation.

Included

  • TV remote navigation, Home/Search/Music/Gaming, local history and settings.
  • HLS.js/MediaSource playback, format selection and default quality settings.
  • SponsorBlock presets and skip logic.
  • MIT project license and bundled third-party notices.

Tested and known limitations

  • 42 automated tests pass; package built from commit 51187d1.
  • Playback and 720p/480p switching tested on one Tizen 6.5 TV; picture and audio confirmed at 720p.
  • The personal-certificate installation procedure above follows the official SDK workflow but has not yet been tested end to end with this public package.
  • Accounts/subscriptions, 4K/HDR, live streams and other TV generations are not validated. SponsorBlock skipping on a known real-TV segment still needs testing.
  • Quality switches may jump back around two seconds. Native HLS fallback may expose only the lowest quality. YouTube endpoint changes can interrupt playback.
