Release list
Notebot 1.0.9
Notebot comes to Windows: a per-user installer (no administrator needed), the same signed updates from inside the app. Also fixed: the off-centre outline on every popup, the empty space on the sign-in card, Continue with Google now carries Google's mark, the dashboard's gear matches the bell, and the app speaks as 'we'.
Notebot 1.0.8
Notebot now asks you to sign in with Google when it first opens. That is how Giorgio knows who is testing the beta — your name, email, version and last-opened day, and nothing about your notes. notebotapp.com/privacy says exactly what is recorded. The monogram at the bottom of the rail is now your account: settings, sign out, version and updates.
Notebot 1.0.7
Updates are now signed: every release carries a signature that Notebot checks before installing, and it refuses anything that doesn't match. Nothing else changes.
Notebot 1.0.6
Security hardening of the reader: a note can no longer run any script, and the reader page can no longer fetch or send data anywhere. Nothing changes in how notes look.
Notebot 1.0.5
The dashboard greeting no longer changes when you switch the theme; it only changes when you open Home again.
Notebot 1.0.4
Updating from inside the app now works on every Mac: the update check was verifying GitHub's certificate against a file only some Macs have, so it always said GitHub didn't answer. If you are on 1.0.2 or 1.0.3, download this one by hand from the release page; from here on the in-app update works.
Notebot 1.0.3
Security notes render fully again: a <script> written in a note's text or math used to hide everything after it. Tables that a newer Gemini model drew as ASCII boxes inside code blocks now come out as real tables, and the model is told not to draw them that way.
Notebot 1.0.2
Notebot now picks the best Gemini model your key can use. Google stopped offering gemini-2.5-flash to new accounts, so a fresh key failed on its first run — fixed. When a run fails, the reason is written in plain words under the Run button. Pasted keys are cleaned of stray characters, and the dashboard's settings icon is a proper gear.
Notebot 1.0.1
Fixes the first-run key check: Gemini keys that don't start with AIza are accepted (press Test key to confirm one works), and the gear menu can change the key later. Gemini Vision is on by default.
Notebot 1.0.0
First release for friends.
- First-run setup: your name, a folder for your notes, your own free Gemini key, optional transcription model download
- Lecture slides, recordings and photos of the board become study notes you read and drill in the app
- Gemini Vision (figures from the slides in your notes) is on by default
- Notebot checks here for updates once a day and installs them itself
