Fixes packaging failing with exit code -2147024891 (0x80070005, access denied) on some machines.
The cause was IntuneWinAppUtil.exe running in its own console window: it then failed while replacing its temporary package. The tool now runs without a window and its output is captured; if it fails, the error shows the hexadecimal code, the Windows error text and the last lines of the output. The output folder (Dropbox, OneDrive or local) was not the cause.
Also in this release:
- Packages are built in a local temporary folder and published to the output folder only when complete (temporary
.partialname, then rename), so sync clients never see a half-written file. The working folder the tool leaves in%TEMP%is cleaned up after the run. - A progress overlay shows the current packaging step and an estimated percentage. The window stays responsive and cannot be closed until the run ends.
- When the package is ready, an in-window panel shows its name and folder, with Open folder (
Enter) and Close (Esc), and the Windows success sound plays. -Diagwrites a detailed log of every packaging run to%APPDATA%\IntuneWinAppUtilGUI\logs, including the tool output and, on failure, the files left behind and the processes holding them open.
