Describe the issue
In a new repository, which just contains an empty README.md file, I started on new codegen session and provided a simple prompt. The response was:
Failed to authenticate. API Error: 401 {"type":"error","error":{"type":"authentication_error","message":"OAuth token has expired. Please obtain a new token or refresh your existing token."},"request_id":"req_011CXzd54XhtHRVhMfVCVq5J"}
Claude exited with non 0 error code
claude appeared to be running fine. I started it and it showed me a blinking cursor. I tried running a prompt in claude and got the same error message, but it included a tidbit that I needed to run /login. After I ran /login in the claude session, then the GitButler Claude Code integration started working as expected.
I think it would be helpful to trap this response from Claude Code and direct folks to login or provide some kind of preflight check that makes sure that claude can respond to a simple prompt.
