v0.1.5

Choose a tag to compare

@gitfudge0 gitfudge0 released this 07 Jun 17:56

What's new

  • Smarter tag suggestions. Fill missing song details from the filename, or search MusicBrainz from the track screen and review the results before writing anything to the file.
  • A clearer track editor. The track detail screen now opens with a larger artwork-focused header, quick actions, file warnings, and a more obvious review-before-save flow.
  • Automatic lyrics sync. After a scan, Audora can now fetch lyrics for newly found tracks that already have enough tag info. You can turn this on or off in Settings and choose whether to retry earlier misses.
  • In-app updates and changelog. Settings now has update checking, release history, and download/install support for future Audora releases.
  • Smoother album browsing. Album covers now transition into the album page more naturally, and album detail loading does less work during navigation.

Fixed and improved

  • More reliable tag writing in release builds. Audora now protects the audio tag library from release-build shrinking, so saving tags keeps working outside debug builds.
  • Better handling for mislabeled audio files. Scans can detect files whose extension does not match the real audio format, show a warning, and filter them from the library.
  • Safer writes for files with the wrong extension. Audora now sniffs the real audio container before writing tags, so an MP3 named like a FLAC is handled by the right writer.
  • Less repeated scan noise. Scan notices such as auto lyrics sync and wrong-extension warnings are delivered once instead of replaying when you return to the library.
  • Faster background work. Artwork progress now updates as tracks are processed, and bulk lyrics fetching uses a steadier concurrency limit.

Audora 0.1.4: Safer Lyrics, Tougher Writes

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 May 19:19

Audora 0.1.4

A safety-focused release. Lyrics saving now leaves your audio files untouched, and the remaining in-place writers (tag edits, album art) can no longer leave a zeroed file behind if a write is interrupted.

What changed

  • Lyrics save is sidecar-only now. Saving lyrics writes a .lrc sidecar next to the track — every modern player Audora targets (PowerAmp, Musicolet, Symfonium, VLC, foobar2000, etc.) picks them up there. The optional "embed lyrics into tags" path has been removed entirely; it was silently routing every lyrics save through a destructive in-place rewrite and, in one case, corrupted a 57 MB FLAC for a user whose write got interrupted. Sidecar gives you the same end result with zero risk to source files.
  • Hardened the in-place writer used by tag and album-art edits. Before truncating an audio file to overwrite it, the writer now takes and verifies a non-empty backup copy. If anything throws during the rewrite, it auto-restores from that backup before propagating the error — so a failed tag edit or art write can no longer leave a partially-written or zeroed file. It will also refuse to "edit" a file whose read already yields zero bytes (the file is already corrupted; rewriting it again would only erase the recovery window).
  • Fixed false "file changed on disk" errors on some Android storage providers. MediaProvider-backed files (typically anything under /storage/emulated/...) sometimes refuse to disclose the file's size through the usual metadata channel, which made the pre-write safety check throw StaleFileException on perfectly-fine files. The check now falls back through AssetFileDescriptor.declaredLength → ParcelFileDescriptor fstat → a streamed byte count so it can find a real size on any provider that backs Audora's target use cases.

Maintenance

  • App version bumped to 0.1.4 (versionCode 5).

Build artifacts

  • app-release.apk for direct installation and testing on Android devices.
  • app-release.aab for Android App Bundle distribution workflows.

Audora 0.1.3: See Every Track in a Batch

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 May 06:44
3d143e2

Audora 0.1.3

A focused release that makes batch album-art and lyrics operations transparent: instead of a single done/total counter, you now see each track's live state as the batch runs.

Improvements

  • Per-track progress for album batches. The album art and lyrics batch flows now show a per-track status list — each track surfaces its own live state (pending, downloading, saved, failed) instead of an opaque "12 / 30" counter. When something fails, you can see exactly which track and why.
  • Concurrent fetches and writes. Batch lookups and writes now run concurrently rather than strictly one at a time, so large albums finish noticeably faster while remaining respectful of external APIs.

Maintenance

  • App version bumped to 0.1.3 (versionCode 4).

Build artifacts

  • app-release.apk for direct installation and testing on Android devices.
  • app-release.aab for Android App Bundle distribution workflows.

v0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 May 03:02
344da0b

Audora 0.1.2

A small maintenance release focused on simplifying how users send feedback.

Improvements

  • Single feedback entry point. The settings Help & feedback section now links to one consolidated GitHub Issues page (issues/new/choose) instead of separate Issues and Discussions links — fewer choices, less confusion about where to report things.
  • Added an inline note that an open feedback page for non-developers is in the works.

Maintenance

  • App version bumped to 0.1.2 (versionCode 3).

v0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 May 02:57
345e9a1

Audora 0.1.1

A small follow-up to 0.1.0 with library/settings UI refinements and the first public repo documentation.

Improvements

  • Sort control surfaced next to scope. The sort option now lives on the Albums/Tracks scope line as a dedicated chip, so the active ordering is always visible next to what it applies to. Filters remain on their own refinement row. Default sort is now Title (labelled "Name").
  • Removed the alphabet scroller rail from the album and track lists for a cleaner list surface.
  • Redesigned settings screen. Settings content is now scrollable, the static About list is replaced with navigable rows, and a new Help & feedback section links out to walkthrough replay and external resources.

Project

  • Added public-facing repo documentation: README, LICENSE, CONTRIBUTING, CODE_OF_CONDUCT, SECURITY, SUPPORT, and GitHub issue/PR templates.

Audora 0.1.0: Put Your Local Music Library in Order

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 May 02:18

Audora - Your music, perfectly organized.

Audora is now available for Android.

This first release is built for people who keep real music files on their phone: ripped CDs, Bandcamp and Qobuz downloads, archive folders, and years of tracks that deserve better than missing covers, unknown artists, and silent lyric screens.

Audora is not another music player. It is a focused workspace for making a local library readable, complete, and portable across the players you already use.

What Audora Does

  • Scans a local music folder and builds a clear view of albums, tracks, missing fields, lyrics, and cover-art quality.
  • Edits core metadata directly on-device, with reviewable changes before writes are committed.
  • Finds synced or plain lyrics from LRCLIB and saves them as sidecar .lrc files next to your tracks.
  • Searches MusicBrainz and Cover Art Archive for album artwork, previews candidates, then writes selected art into your files.
  • Handles album-level cleanup, bulk tag edits, duplicate album combining, missing-art filters, no-lyrics filters, incomplete-tag filters, and unfiled tracks.
  • Uses Android folder access instead of cloud sync, accounts, or library uploads. Your files stay local.

Built For Careful Cleanup

Audora is designed around a simple rule: never pretend the library is cleaner than it is. The app shows what is present, what is missing, and what needs attention before you change anything.

That matters because music metadata is not cosmetic. It is what your launcher widget, lock screen, car head unit, desktop sync tool, and music player all read. When the tags, art, and lyrics are right at the file level, the library behaves correctly everywhere.

Install

This draft release includes two Android build artifacts:

  • app-release.apk for direct installation and testing on Android devices.
  • app-release.aab for Android App Bundle distribution workflows.

For this first 0.1.0 release, make sure you have a backup of any library you care about before doing large write operations. Audora is built to be deliberate about file changes, but metadata editing always deserves the same caution as any other tool that writes to your music files.

Requirements

  • Android 8.0 or newer.
  • Access to a local folder containing supported audio files.
  • Network access for lyric and cover-art lookup.

Thank You

Audora starts with one practical promise: your local music collection should be fixable from the device where you actually use it. This release is the first public step toward that.
