Changes

  • Improve multi-project session picking with clearer selection, keyboard guidance, and a shared agent choice beside Launch selected.
  • Distinguish the selected and focused launcher options.
  • Fix frosted sidebar session launch controls.

Grove 1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@gitfudge0 gitfudge0 released this 27 Sep 09:28
1a696ab

Grove 1.0.0 is the first stable release of the native desktop app. Run grove to open the app directly.

What's new

  • A rebuilt workspace UI and first-run onboarding put projects, worktrees, and sessions in one place. Use the project tree, activity list, or persistent home terminal.
  • Add a local project, create a worktree, and start Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, or a shell in the selected checkout. Each agent runs in an embedded terminal session.
  • Keep sessions side by side in the resizable grid, or dock a shell beside an active agent. With tmux installed, sessions can survive an app restart and be restored; native sessions work without tmux.
  • Choose System, Dark, or Light appearance in settings. The 22-second Grove UI preview shows the worktree-to-session flow with fictional project data.

Windows support remains alpha. See the README for platform and installation details.

Maintenance: updated rustls to address a security advisory and cleaned up dependency licensing.

Grove v0.54.0

This release includes the work since v0.53.0.

Session workflow

  • Add multi-project session context and persistence, keeping project identities and session labels correct across reattach and rename flows.
  • Warm project worktree caches so the session launcher can surface projects and worktrees more reliably.
  • Launch agents through a fresh login shell.
  • Improve contextual titles in the session sidebar and grid.
  • Add session launcher and modal flows for creating, selecting, and managing agent sessions.

Terminal and tmux

  • Improve tmux selection, scrolling, quoting, cache probing, and session naming.
  • Add terminal mouse selection support outside the visible tmux viewport.
  • Improve session teardown, reattachment, and terminal routing behavior.

Interface

  • Refine workspace, sidebar, row, launcher, confirmation, and modal interactions for the updated session workflow.
  • Add the multi-project session UI mock for design reference.

Upgrade and release

  • Improve GitHub release asset download handling and release parsing.
  • Bump the workspace and crate versions to 0.54.0.

Validated with cargo test --workspace and ./install.sh.

Grove v0.53.0

This release spans the work since v0.45.0. It moves Grove to the GPUI application shell and adds a substantial set of workflow, terminal, and interface improvements.

Grid and session workflow

  • Resize Agent View grids directly: drag a column or row seam, or double-click a seam to reset that split. Sizing is kept for the current Grove run and returns to equal shares when the grid shape changes.
  • Press mod+r in the grid to enter keyboard resize mode. Arrow keys or h/j/k/l move the split beside the focused tile by 5%; hold Shift for 1% adjustments. Enter or Escape exits the mode.
  • Keep the focused session and tile ordering stable while resizing, with terminal-aware minimum tile sizes.
  • Show contextual session titles and diff statistics in grid tiles and session headers.
  • Add a sessions-oriented sidebar rail, grouping cards by who work is waiting on; mod+b toggles the rail mode.
  • Improve grid focus synchronization, visible-order session navigation, tile titles, and the side-terminal Zen workflow. Side-terminal Zen state is remembered per session.

Projects, worktrees, and diffs

  • Choose a base branch when creating a worktree.
  • Reliably focus and open a newly created worktree without changing unrelated expansion state in the project tree.
  • Add project archiving, guarded when live sessions are still present.
  • Rename projects from the scripts editor, and make scripts run consistently from every entry point.
  • Add a syntax-highlighted diff modal with resizable, internally scrollable file and content panes.
  • Keep worktree lists attached to the correct project and improve tree selection, expansion, long-name, and branch-chip behavior.

Interface and command palette

  • Complete the GPUI app experience: grid, terminal tab, worktree panel, sidebar, attention pipeline, app bar, status bar, toasts, command palette, settings, editors, upgrade flow, telemetry, and quit paths.
  • Rebuild Settings and project settings around shared card primitives; standardize modal styling and improve modal focus and input handling.
  • Add full command-palette row actions, recency ordering in the switch drill-in, scrolling for longer palettes, and an always-discoverable Add Project action.
  • Make UI zoom scale Grove chrome as well as terminal cells, and improve title truncation and responsive sidebar row layout.

Terminal and session reliability

  • Introduce the dedicated grove-terminal crate and a dual-parser golden test harness as part of the GPUI terminal implementation.
  • Improve terminal rendering performance with one-character cells and a memoized per-row scene.
  • Create PTYs at the correct size, keep normal shells out of tmux, and cleanly terminate children when terminal sessions are dropped.
  • Improve tmux startup and reattachment: cache availability checks, shorten attach fallback delays, and avoid an arithmetic failure at the cached-probe TTL boundary.
  • Harden keyboard dispatch, shifted shortcuts, Escape handling, and native input/content-type handling.

Platform, builds, and fixes

  • On macOS, compile Metal shaders at runtime so a local Xcode installation is no longer required.
  • Install the GPUI native build dependencies in the release workflow.
  • Stop repeated macOS TCC permission prompts while idle.
  • Fix crashes and interaction regressions around modals, focus, key dispatch, persistence defaults, sidebar close confirmation, and worktree/project selection.
  • Move Grove from the legacy Iced and vt100 application stack to GPUI while preserving and extending the core terminal workflows.

grove 0.45.0

Choose a tag to compare

@gitfudge0 gitfudge0 released this 29 Jul 15:51

What's changed since v0.44.0

Features

  • New setting: Claude in Chrome. When enabled, Grove launches Claude sessions with --chrome, so the agent can read and control your Chrome tabs. Off by default — existing configs are unaffected until you turn it on. Available in the settings modal and in the command palette under AGENTS / TERMINAL, alongside Permissions.

Internal

  • Launch flags now accumulate rather than short-circuiting on the first match, so Skip permissions and Claude in Chrome can be enabled together without one dropping the other.
  • Extracted SettingRow::is_toggle(), replacing the set of toggle rows that had been hardcoded in four separate places.

What's changed since v0.43.0

Features

  • Launch-agent picker moved to an icon bar in the Tab row-actions strip: ←/→ rings an agent, ⏎ or click launches with it. Replaces the root-list agent cycler and the "OPEN WITH" drill-in pane; root-level ←/→ now do native caret movement in the search field.

grove 0.43.0

Choose a tag to compare

@gitfudge0 gitfudge0 released this 26 Jul 11:38

What's changed since v0.42.0

Security

  • Updater hardening: redirect pinning and SHA-256 verification of downloaded assets; source updates pin the commit SHA.
  • Project-name validation in worktree creation; worktree dirs created 0700; atomic writes go 0600-before-rename.
  • Tmux env-key validation; GROVE_CONFIG_DIR honored everywhere.
  • Telemetry stays off until the stored preference loads; panic reports reduced to file:line; PostHog key moved to a build secret.

Performance

  • Focus/dirty-gated 60ms tick (1s when idle), lazy terminal scraping, off-thread worktree cache rebuild, attention-file mtime cache, per-frame sidebar session bucketing, thread-local icon cache.

Internals & tooling

  • grove-core split into its own crate with typed errors; monolithic modules split into directories.
  • clippy::pedantic enabled workspace-wide with a curated allow-list; CI now runs cargo-nextest (+ doctests) and a hygiene job (typos, cargo-machete); lefthook pre-commit hooks; stricter cargo-deny (wildcard versions banned).
  • Dropped dead dependencies (keepawake, grove-core's anyhow); removed the HTML design mocks and stale planning docs.

Rebuilt bundles after a windows packaging fix (cargo-wix needs -p grove since the workspace split).
