[squad:plan] Lattice Hollow #58481

Description

@github-actions

Concept Summary

A top-down exploration-puzzle game about restoring a buried machine-garden beneath a ruined city. Players descend into shifting underground chambers, reroute light through crystalline latticeworks, and awaken dormant biomechanical ecosystems that change traversal, unlock shortcuts, and reveal fragments of the civilization that built them. The tone is mysterious and hopeful rather than post-apocalyptic grim: each solved chamber makes the world feel more alive, turning the game into a chain of spatial puzzles, light resource decisions, and gradual environmental renewal.

Core Gameplay Loop

  • Enter a new underground sector with limited portable light charges.
  • Survey the room layout, blocked paths, and inactive lattice nodes.
  • Rotate mirrors, slide prisms, and reconnect energy routes.
  • Spend or recover light charges to activate machinery and revive local flora-fauna systems.
  • Use revived systems to open paths, elevators, bridges, or safe traversal zones.
  • Collect lore fragments and permanent upgrades, then descend deeper.

Target Platform

PC / Steam

Art / Style Direction

Painterly sci-fi ruins with soft-glow lighting, mineral textures, and biomechanical plant forms. Camera is readable and slightly distant, favoring elegant silhouettes and color-coded energy states over clutter. Animation emphasizes "awakening": dim chambers bloom into warm, humming life as players solve them. Audio mixes hollow subterranean ambience, glassy resonance, and gentle machine-chime motifs.

Minimum Viable Feature Set

  • Top-down player movement and room-to-room exploration
  • Light-routing puzzle interactions with mirrors, prisms, and nodes
  • Rechargeable/limited light resource mechanic
  • 3 distinct chamber mechanics introduced over progression
  • Environmental state changes tied to puzzle completion
  • Simple upgrade system for light capacity or interaction range
  • Lightweight narrative delivery through found fragments and visual storytelling
  • Save/load and checkpoint system
  • 30–45 minute playable loop for first build target
