A lighter FS PDF Compressor
Version 1.0.13 is a small maintenance release focused on reducing memory use while the app is open and waiting for files. Compression behavior, the three quality profiles, local-only processing, and file safety rules are unchanged.
What changed
- On macOS, the full Sparkle update framework now loads only when an update may be available or when Check for Updates… is selected.
- Sparkle still performs the same signed-update verification and installation flow.
- Ghostscript diagnostic output is bounded and large file selections avoid unnecessary duplicate path collections.
- macOS redraws only the result rows that changed or are visible.
- Linux releases completed Qt worker threads promptly and avoids unnecessary result-table redraw work.
- Windows 11 x64 is now available with a per-user installer, portable ZIP, Windows Explorer Compress with FS PDF Compressor action, and desktop Drop Zone.
What users gain
FS PDF Compressor uses substantially less memory when idle, making it a lighter companion for everyday PDF work without sacrificing compression quality, privacy, or secure updates. Windows users can now compress directly from Explorer or the desktop Drop Zone; safely replaced originals go to the Recycle Bin.
Downloads
- macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon: Developer ID signed, Apple-notarized DMG. Existing macOS installs can update through the app.
- Linux x86_64: AppImage, matching zsync metadata, and SHA-256 checksum.
- Snap Store: matching 1.0.13 build is published in the stable channel.
- Windows 11 x64: per-user installer and portable ZIP, each with a SHA-256 checksum. The Windows build is currently unsigned, so verify its checksum before installing; updates are manual for now.
Windows build provenance
The Windows binary was built from the public source revision cb8b705 and tested in Windows before publication. It bundles the unmodified AGPL Ghostscript runtime together with its license, corresponding-source offer, and third-party notices. This Windows addition does not rebuild or replace the existing macOS, Linux, or Snap 1.0.13 packages.
