@gjeon03 gjeon03 released this 19 Oct 15:51

The first public release of MyBar, a small, free menu bar organizer for macOS. It hides the menu bar items you don't need all the time, shows them on demand in a bar below the menu bar, and collects related items into groups behind a single icon.

Highlights

  • Hidden and Always Hidden — keep items out of the menu bar. Click MyBar's icon to see them in the Bar below the menu bar; click one and it opens right where it belongs, then goes back into hiding.
  • Groups — give a set of items its own menu bar icon that shows just those items.
  • One app for macOS 26 and 27 — on macOS 27 items are hidden through the system's menu bar allow list, Wi‑Fi, Sound, Battery and other Control Center items included; macOS 26 uses a divider-based engine.
  • Your own icon — 12 built-in looks, any SF Symbol, or a picture of your own. Global shortcut ⌥⌘B, launch at login.
  • Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple: it opens without Gatekeeper warnings and keeps its permissions across updates.

Install

  1. Download MyBar-1.4.0.dmg below and drag MyBar into Applications.
  2. Open MyBar from Applications and allow Accessibility and Screen & System Audio Recording in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
  3. Drag the items you want to hide into Hidden on the Layout tab.

Works on macOS 26 and 27, on Apple silicon and Intel. MyBar doesn't collect or send anything; the code is all here (MIT).

Upgrading from 1.3.x

  • Allow the two permissions once more: the bundle identifier and the signature changed. The old MyBar entries are removed automatically.
  • MyBar's icon may appear at the far left of the menu bar. ⌘-drag it to where you want it once and it remembers (macOS 27 doesn't apply the old position to the new identifier).
  • Your settings (hidden layout, groups, icon) carry over automatically.
