KherveLAB 0.30.31
First public release. KherveLAB is a desktop app for booking the instruments of one research lab, run on the lab computer.
What's in it
- Schedule. An All instruments calendar and one calendar tab per instrument, with Day, Week and Month views. On the All instruments tab each booking is filled with its instrument's colour (Lab settings can switch back to one colour with an instrument stripe). To book, drag across free time, or press and hold a slot; a plain click never books. Drag a booking to move it, or drag its edge to resize it.
- How each instrument is booked.
- Free time: slots in the daytime, plus an evening and a weekend period that can be closed, one whole booking, or slots.
- Fixed sessions: sessions such as Morning, Afternoon and Overnight, each with its own days and prices.
- Approval. Each instrument is automatic, automatic for trained users only, or manual. The lab manager approves or rejects requests from the Requests panel.
- Roles.
- A user books their own time.
- A super user books and manages bookings for anyone.
- The lab manager runs everything.
- Costs. Each instrument has an hourly rate for each user category (Internal, External academic, Industry…), and sessions can have a fixed price for each category. A booking keeps the price in force when it was made.
- Reports.
- Charts for finance, usage, utilisation and downtime.
- A lab report as PDF or Excel, with native charts.
- Statements as PDF, Excel or CSV.
- Problems and out of order. These can be reported on any instrument, and out-of-order time blocks new bookings.
- Import from PPMS. Brings over systems, users, prices, rights, bookings or usage, and incidents. A dry run shows what would happen, a backup is taken first, and importing the same files again is safe.
- Booking web pages (optional). Run them on the lab network from Manage ▸ Booking from other computers, or without the app window from Start ▸ KherveLAB web server (
KherveLAB-server.exe), a console window that shows the address to give users. They show the same calendar and apply the same rules as the app. - Claude. Manage ▸ Connect to Claude lets Claude Desktop or Claude Code act as a lab manager, with no tools that delete anything. Every change is logged.
Download
KherveLAB-Setup.exe(orKherveLAB-Setup-0.30.31.exe) is the installer. It installs for the current user and needs no admin rights.KherveLAB-0.30.31-portable.zip: extract it and runKherveLAB\KherveLAB.exe.
The installer is not code-signed. If Windows SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
The lab's data lives in %USERPROFILE%\KherveLAB-data\lab.db, never in the program folder, so upgrading or uninstalling leaves it alone.
macOS disk images (Apple Silicon and Intel) are in the macos-v0.30.31 release.
