Gkeyll is a multi-scale, multi-physics simulation framework, developed for a variety of applications in plasma physics, fusion, space physics, general relativity, and high-energy astrophysics. The core of Gkeyll is written in C, featuring a lightweight, modular design and minimal external dependencies, plus an additional Lua scripting layer (for specifying simulation input parameters) provided via the Lua-C API.

The originator of the Gkeyll project is Ammar Hakim. The Project Co-Leads and Adminstrators are Jimmy Juno (West Virginia University) and Mana Francisquez (Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory).
Gkeyll is a multi-institutional project, funded over the years by the Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, Airforce Office of Scientific Research, Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, The Simon Foundation, and others.
