Release list
SUPER DESKTOP 1.3.1
Protocol: 3 (unchanged)
Android app: works with SUPER DESKTOP for Android 1.0.0 (4, on Google Play) and 1.1.0 (6).
Install: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gladimdim/super-desktop/master/install.sh | SUPER_DESKTOP_VERSION=v1.3.1 bash
Changes since v1.3.0.
What users see
- Terminal cards can now be resized up to the edges of the screen, inside the 10 px margins and below the toolbar. Before, a card stopped at 70% of the screen width and 75% of its height. This also applies to restored sizes, sizes set from a remote view and the CLI geometry limits.
Bridge changes
- None. Protocol stays at 3, and existing routes, fields and frames are unchanged.
Fixes
- When the overlay is shown on a wider monitor than the first one (for example a handheld docked to a large display), cards on the right side no longer start their slide in the middle of the screen. Each card now slides in from the nearest edge of the screen it opens on.
- Hiding the overlay now slides each card out from where it is at that moment. Before, a card that had been moved, resized, arranged or expanded since the overlay was shown jumped back to its old place first and left by the edge that had been nearer then.
- An older PC that receives a larger card size from a remote view still shrinks it to its own limit, as before.
Validation
- The full Rust suite passed: 686 main-binary tests plus the library, client and integration tests. Seven opt-in tests were ignored, and the large-screen GTK tests were skipped as usual.
- A new test runs the slide-in on a hidden display and checks that a card enters from the real screen's edge.
- Real-phone compatibility testing was not done for this release. The phone bridge is unchanged.
SUPER DESKTOP 1.3.0
Protocol: 3 (unchanged)
Android app: works with SUPER DESKTOP for Android 1.0.0 (4, on Google Play) and 1.1.0 (6). Prompt history on the phone needs app 1.1.0 (6) and this release.
Install: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gladimdim/super-desktop/master/install.sh | SUPER_DESKTOP_VERSION=v1.3.0 bash
Changes since v1.2.0.
What users see
- Prompt history: a history button in each terminal card's header, after Files, opens a panel listing the prompts sent to that terminal, newest first, with their date and time, Copy and Refresh. Claude Code and OpenCode history comes from the agents' own records, so it includes prompts from before this update; other harnesses list the prompts sent through SUPER DESKTOP after it. Codex 0.160 and later run conversations in a shared background process, so the PC can't read a Codex card's own prompts: its history lists only prompts sent through SUPER DESKTOP and may be incomplete. Older Codex versions are not affected.
- Prompts sent from the phone are now reliably submitted in Claude Code, Grok, OpenCode and every other harness.
- The website is easier to use on phones, shows link previews when shared, and links to the Android app on Google Play.
Bridge changes
- Adds
GET /api/v1/harnesses/<id>/prompts, which the phone app uses to show a terminal's prompt history. Older phone apps never call it; a newer app on an older PC asks you to update SUPER DESKTOP. - Before pressing Return on a phone prompt, the PC now waits for every harness (not only Codex) to take the typed text: at least 200 ms, and until the text shows, for at most 1.5 s. Shells, arrow keys and other keys are not delayed. No wire change.
- Protocol stays at 3. Existing routes, fields and frames are unchanged.
Fixes
- A prompt sent from the phone could stay in the Claude Code composer, with Return turned into a newline, instead of being submitted.
Validation
- The full Rust suite passed: 681 main-binary tests plus the library, client and integration tests. Seven opt-in tests were ignored.
- Claude Code, Grok and OpenCode were each sent four real prompts (short, multi-line and 1,485 characters) through the phone's input path on an isolated bridge; all were submitted and answered.
- Real-phone compatibility testing was not performed for this release.
SUPER DESKTOP 1.2.0
Protocol: 3 (unchanged)
Install: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gladimdim/super-desktop/master/install.sh | SUPER_DESKTOP_VERSION=v1.2.0 bash
Changes since v1.1.21.
What users see
- A command-line interface,
super-desktop, for people and agents: list and inspect terminals and harnesses, launch harnesses with a prompt and card position, read terminal output, send input, move, resize, focus, color-tag and close cards, manage notes, layouts, settings, shortcuts, file references and pairing, and attach to a terminal. Changes are guarded and leave receipts. See CLI.md for the full reference. - A local MCP server lets agents read the desktop's terminals and, when you allow it in Settings, coordinate them: launch harnesses, send input and wait for a launch to finish.
- Arrange fills the current workspace: cards favor readable landscape terminals, and an incomplete last row stretches across the full width instead of leaving gaps.
- After a reboot, each card resumes its own Claude Code or Codex conversation, not just the latest one in that folder.
- The Files panel finds more files in terminal output, including paths that Claude Code or Codex wrapped onto the next line in a narrow card, and plays audio files.
- Showing the overlay is smoother: cards reuse the still images taken when it was hidden.
- The install command and Settings → Updates follow releases instead of the development branch.
SUPER_DESKTOP_VERSION=latestinstalls the newest release, andSUPER_DESKTOP_VERSION=masterfollows the branch. - Arch packages, released source archives that include Rust dependency license notices, and a GPL-3.0-only license declaration.
- An early macOS development build of the desktop.
- A redesigned website with live demos and real clips, and link previews when the website is shared on social sites.
Bridge changes
- Adds optional phone-sized terminals: a compatible phone can request a terminal grid that fits its screen through the opt-in
viewport=1stream negotiation, renewed every 10 seconds and expiring within 30 seconds when the connection is lost. - Older phones keep the existing stream behavior unchanged. Newer phones on an older PC see no viewport capability and keep font fitting and panning.
- Protocol stays at 3. Existing routes, fields and frames remain available.
Fixes
- Terminal bounds are correct after a display change.
- Rebuilds work when CARGO_TARGET_DIR is inherited from the environment.
- The still image shown while the overlay slides is no longer blank for a busy terminal.
- A daemon closing its socket no longer loses the reply of a lifecycle command.
Validation
- The full Rust suite passed: 668 main-binary tests plus the library, client and integration tests. Seven opt-in tests were ignored, and large-screen GTK checks skipped their assertions as usual.
- Real-phone compatibility testing was not performed for this release.
SUPER DESKTOP 1.1.21
Protocol: 3 (unchanged)
Install: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gladimdim/super-desktop/master/install.sh | SUPER_DESKTOP_VERSION=v1.1.21 bash
Changes since v1.1.17.
What users see
- Files & links opens as a movable, resizable panel. Markdown can be rendered, edited and saved, with protection against overwriting a file changed elsewhere.
- Install a specific release and keep it pinned. Settings → Updates recognizes pinned installs and offers a switch to the newest version.
- The website has a step-by-step phone connection guide, and the README has updated screenshots.
Bridge changes
- Adds optional editor information in terminal frames and an editor-action endpoint for nano, vim/vi/neovim and emacs. Compatible phone clients can save, close, create files and scroll, with the available actions depending on the editor.
- Editor actions require SUPER DESKTOP 1.1.21 and a companion app with editor-action support. Older clients retain existing behavior; older PCs omit editor controls. The PC checks that the editor is still in the foreground before sending its keys.
- Protocol stays at 3. Existing routes and fields remain available.
Fixes
- Harness and terminal launch buttons stay enabled after a refresh while the dock is hidden, including theme refreshes.
- Super+V pastes into shell cards after copying text in a browser.
- Installing a release avoids the misleading git “is not a commit” warning.
Validation
- Rust suite and isolated bridge security and terminal smoke checks passed.
- The isolated Rust run reported 593 main-binary and four client tests passed. Six opt-in tests were ignored, five large-screen GTK checks skipped their assertions, and one existing GTK test without display isolation was excluded.
- Live nano and emacs checks were skipped because those editors were not installed; their action translation is covered by unit tests.
- Real-phone compatibility testing was not performed for this release. Publication with this limitation was explicitly approved.
SUPER DESKTOP 1.1.17
- Protocol: 3
- Install this release:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gladimdim/super-desktop/master/install.sh | SUPER_DESKTOP_VERSION=v1.1.17 bash
The first tagged release. It contains everything on master up to this point.
What's new lately
- Harnesses are restored automatically after a reboot.
- Prompts with images and files from the phone can go to any idle harness.
- Card titles and the phone's "last prompt" use only the prompt you submitted.
- Much lower overhead for terminal streaming, phone input, and image and file attachments.
- The Settings panel is resizable, remembers its size and position, and moves by its header.
- Settings → Updates checks GitHub for a newer version and updates in place. There is also a one-command install and update, and every commit raises the version.
- Paste into cards with Super+V, Shift+Insert and Ctrl+V. Terminal selections copy to the clipboard, and links open with Ctrl+click.
- A card scrolled back through its history can jump to the newest output.
- The phone shows a keystroke as soon as the program redraws, and a PC that cannot be reached shows why.
- Each project folder gets its own terminal label colour, and apps can have start arguments.
- New harness launchers: DeepSeek, and the OpenClaw gateway plugin is set up from Settings.
- Phone linking: pair, approve and revoke phones. A phone can watch and type into your terminals, so only pair phones you trust.
Settings → Updates in this release cannot recognise a pinned install (later releases do). To move a PC to another version, run the install command with the version you want, or with SUPER_DESKTOP_VERSION=latest for the newest.
