in which we're the latest OBS Studio is working again, and Ubuntu stops feeling neglected

PTZ Controls v0.19.0 is a substantial reliability and feature update with changes across the board. It adds a per-camera connection indicator, hotkeys for relative preset recall, a collapsible dock splitter, much more robust ONVIF support, and more crash-resistant config saving, alongside a large internal refactor that improves performance and lays groundwork for future work; fixes also cover ignored hotkey actions, a threading bug, and a run of Ubuntu packaging issues that were dropping or breaking the release binaries.

OBS Studio 32.2.1 is the minimum version for the Windows and MacOS binaries in this release. Please use PTZ Controls v0.18.2 if you need to use an older version of OBS Studio, or rebuild from source.

Ubuntu binaries are released for both 24.06 'Nobel' and 26.06 'Resolute'. The plugin works with both the Ubuntu packaged versions of OBS Studio, and the OBS Project PPA build.

What's new

• Clearer connection status at a glance. Each camera in the device list now shows a status indicator so you can immediately see which ones are connected.
• ONVIF cameras are now more reliable to work with. The plugin keeps a live connection status for each camera and automatically reconnects if it drops, instead of silently going stale.
• New camera controls for ONVIF. You can now adjust focus and white balance, pick which media profile a camera uses, and set a custom speed multiplier for cameras whose pan/tilt/zoom speed doesn't match the ONVIF spec. Right-click the Home button to save the current position as its new "home".
• Preset recall hotkeys. You can now bind hotkeys to step through and recall presets relative to whichever one is currently selected.
• A visible collapsible splitter in the dock, so you can hide/show the preview pane, with the collapsed state now remembered between sessions.
• Ubuntu ARM64 binaries. Ubuntu builds now also ship for aarch64, alongside the existing x86_64 build.
• Ubuntu 26.04 binaries, alongside the existing 24.04 build.

Fixes

• Camera actions (hotkey-triggered PTZ moves) no longer get silently ignored in some cases.
• Fixed several ONVIF compatibility issues that could cause cameras to fail to connect, drop connection, or lose their presets — including timestamp sync problems, malformed requests to some camera firmwares, and stale addresses being cached.
• Configuration is now saved more robustly (via OBS's own save hook) so changes aren't lost if OBS closes unexpectedly.
• Fixed a crash-adjacent reference-counting bug and a threading issue that could cause UI updates to happen off the main thread.
• Fixed builds on Ubuntu and the latest macOS.
• Fixed a bug where the release process could silently drop Ubuntu binaries: .deb filenames only encoded CPU architecture, so builds for different Ubuntu versions on the same architecture collided and overwrote each other during packaging.
  -.deb/.ddeb filenames now follow Debian's standard name_version_arch.deb convention, with the Ubuntu release codename folded into the version (e.g. obs-ptz_0.19.0~noble_arm64.deb)
• Fixed the Ubuntu build depending on an external PPA that doesn't publish ARM64 packages, which could leave the build silently using the wrong OBS version. Ubuntu builds now consistently use the distro-packaged OBS Studio on every architecture.
• Fixed the Ubuntu package depending directly on libobs, which conflicted with — and could get silently removed by — OBS Studio installs from the OBS Project's PPA. The package now depends on obs-studio instead; installing and upgrading alongside the PPA build has been tested and confirmed working.

Under the hood

A large portion of this release is internal cleanup and refactoring of how device configuration and state are stored — this shouldn't be user-visible, but it improves performance (the device list is faster with many cameras) and sets up the codebase for future features.

Are you using the right binary? There are two different binaries for this release; one that works with the latest OBS and one that works with older OBS releases.

Make sure your using the correct binary. If you installed the one named …-for-obs-31.1.1-… then it won’t work with 32.2.2. You need one of the following:
