DeskLink 0.1.0 Beta 2 Development Secure — experimental private-signing build
Pre-releaseDeskLink 0.1.0 Beta 2 Development Secure
This is an experimental, privately signed prerelease built from commit
3e048efda2c02640e9dbfb31e6a61c165e03f371 (PR #74). It is intended for
controlled testing of DeskLink's elevated-application and visible-UAC input
path. It is not publicly trusted or production-signed.
Changes since Beta 1
- Improves privileged focus handoff and pointer landing across PC boundaries.
- Reduces secure-input service lease renewal and event-delivery latency.
- Coalesces high-rate pointer datagrams to prevent stale input from building up.
- Improves roaming observation, directional activation, and rapid return trips.
- Keeps privileged control opt-in and bound to an authenticated, pinned peer.
Development Secure trust warning
Elevated application and visible UAC control requires the exact public
DeskLink Development Secure certificate to be installed separately in the
controlled PC's Local Machine Trusted Root Certification Authorities and
Trusted Publishers stores. Verify this DER SHA-256 fingerprint out of band
before installing it:

Trusting this private development root broadens the PC's Windows code-trust
boundary and therefore lowers security relative to leaving it untrusted. Use
it only on controlled test PCs where that tradeoff is acceptable. The trust
bundle contains an explicit install/status/remove script. Remove the
certificate after testing. The private key and any PFX are not included and
must never be distributed.
This certificate trust does not weaken DeskLink's network authentication:
certificate pinning, peer validation, permissions, leases, and manual UAC
approval remain required. DeskLink never approves a UAC prompt automatically.
Known limitations
- Elevated/UAC control remains experimental.
- Physical Windows 11-to-Windows 11 coverage is still incomplete.
- Extended-display/video transport is not included.
- Use
Ctrl+Alt+Pauseto return input locally if necessary.
