v0.3.0

@tannevaled tannevaled released this 23 Oct 06:36
ce318da

The extension is now built on go-slides v0.8.0 (#7, #8).

  • Faster than Marp for VS Code after an edit. The preview re-renders only the slides an edit changed. On a 100-slide deck, typing in slide 50 updates the preview in 19 ms, against 23–24 ms for Marp for VS Code. The first preview takes 52 ms, against Marp's 78 ms.
  • Line numbers on code blocks: ```go {lineNumbers}, or the lineNumbers directive.
  • Code callouts: // <1> at the end of a line, then a numbered list after the block. Each marked line gets a numbered disc, and each note the same disc.

Install: download go-slides-0.3.0.vsix below, then code --install-extension go-slides-0.3.0.vsix. The extension is not on the VS Code Marketplace or Open VSX yet.

v0.2.2

6959c5d

The extension is now built on go-slides v0.7.1 (#5, #6).

  • Preview level with Marp for VS Code. On a 100-slide deck, the preview after an edit takes 24 ms, against Marp's 23 ms; with 0.2.1 it took 44 ms at Go's default GOGC. The first preview takes 52 ms, against Marp's 78 ms.
  • The GOGC=400 override is gone. The default now meets the target with a smaller heap.

Install: download go-slides-0.2.2.vsix below, then code --install-extension go-slides-0.2.2.vsix. The extension is not on the VS Code Marketplace or Open VSX yet.

v0.2.1

d77c9fd

The extension is now built on go-slides v0.7.0 (#4).

  • Faster preview. On a 100-slide deck, the preview after an edit takes 35 ms instead of 61 ms, and the first preview takes 68 ms instead of 93 ms. go-regexp/engine v0.3.2 allocates much less while highlighting code. Marp for VS Code still re-renders in 24 ms after an edit; most of the remaining time is in go-slides' own parsing.

Install: download go-slides-0.2.1.vsix below, then code --install-extension go-slides-0.2.1.vsix. The extension is not on the VS Code Marketplace or Open VSX yet.

  • Scroll sync between the editor and the preview, both ways, slide by slide and block by block, as in VS Code's Markdown preview and Marp for VS Code. Lines are traced through templates: a slide a {{ range }} generates follows its template's line, an {{ include }} its include line (go-slides/slides#30, after go-slides v0.6.0).

Install: download go-slides-0.2.0.vsix below, then code --install-extension go-slides-0.2.0.vsix. Documentation: https://go-slides.github.io/docs/latest/vscode/

Not on the VS Code Marketplace or Open VSX yet.

The first release of the go-slides extension for VS Code.

  • Preview go-slides decks (slides: true) and Marp decks (marp: true, unless Marp for VS Code is installed) in VS Code's Markdown preview, rendered by go-slides compiled to WebAssembly: no binary, works on vscode.dev.
  • Go templates, slide kinds (front matter, kinds files, slides.yaml/slides.hcl) and HCL front matter, read from the workspace.
  • Problems panel: template, YAML and HCL errors on their lines.
  • Completion and hover for directives, kind/_kind, themes, size presets and template functions.
  • Export to HTML, PDF, PPTX, ODP, PNG and JPEG through the installed slides command (trusted workspaces).

Install: download go-slides-0.1.0.vsix below, then code --install-extension go-slides-0.1.0.vsix. Documentation: https://go-slides.github.io/docs/latest/vscode/

Not on the VS Code Marketplace or Open VSX yet.
