v0.3.2 - Update fix

  • Fixed automatic updates failing when release EXEs use versioned filenames.
  • Supports fileback-vVERSION.exe and filebackup-vVERSION.exe.
  • Preserves checksum verification and existing settings, profiles, backups, and logs.

If this is your first install just get the fileback-v0.3.2-alpha.exe, filebackup.exe is for previous versions where the update only read filebackup.exe and not fileback-vX.X.X.exe

FileBackup v0.2.0-alpha

Changes since v0.1.0-alpha:

  • Added ZIP backups and compression of existing backups, with archive verification. Compression defaults to level 6 and is configurable.
  • Added explicit create/add workflows, backup rename/delete, and a folder browser that reveals files in File Explorer.
  • Added branch-style menus with arrow-key navigation, shortened paths, and improved text alignment.
  • Added progress bars for copying and compression, completion/error colors, and a configurable completion delay.
  • Added timestamped per-run .log.gz logs. Successful compression removes the plain log; failures preserve it.
  • Added config.json and an Edit config menu for storage paths, compression, exclusions, overwrites, retries, timestamps, and completion delay.
  • Changed default storage from Backups to .backups, with logs in .logs.
  • Added path/name validation, duplicate-name protection, and noninteractive copying.
  • The .bat now creates missing manager.ps1 and config.json files on first run. Existing files are preserved.

Requirements: Windows PowerShell 5.1+, Robocopy, and 7-Zip for ZIPs and compressed logs.

Scheduled backups are not included in this release.
