DBabel 1.6.0 improves long-document translation, gateway compatibility and recovery while preserving the native macOS glass appearance and existing review sessions.
- API compatibility: Chat Completions (including NewAPI channels), Responses and Claude Messages; complete JSON/SSE decoding, configurable streaming, timeout and model options, bounded retries and useful quota/network errors.
- Continue saved work: interrupted batches shrink automatically. Completed translation and semantic batches survive restarts and changes to transport settings, without requesting them again.
- Focused Skill workflow: phased resource loading, bounded unit context and precise retry constraints; local prechecks and scoped SQLite translation memory reduce repeated model work.
- Original-format drafts: native DOCX/TXT/MD/XLSX copies use reviewed wording first, then AI proposals/current text for pending units. XLSX worksheet labels are included when safe; formulas and unrelated package content stay protected.
- Portable Review: offline HTML with current/suggested acceptance, adjacent edit confirmation, following navigation, resizable details and session-bound local caching. Save/Restore progress backs up unfinished drafts as well as decisions.
- Local terminology: optional database reference terms, a recognition template, and editable/exportable translation memory. References do not become user-approved decisions automatically.

Validation and limits
442 Python regressions: 441 passed, 1 skipped. All six GitHub CI jobs passed on Linux, macOS and Windows with Python 3.9/3.11. Additional desktop/portable browser interaction checks passed, including 28 language/theme/width combinations, memory/terminology controls, six review download formats, edit/save/navigation, offline recovery and mismatched-backup rejection. A synthetic 128-paragraph gateway run exercised timeout splitting, mid-review quota failure, resumption without repeating completed batches, and original-format draft output. SQLite connections and backup handles are explicitly released on Windows. Swift typechecking, package contracts, documentation and disk-image/signature verification passed.
Company NewAPI access still requires the user's intranet/VPN; that real endpoint was not live-tested. This release's new native API settings sheet could not receive a final on-screen check because the Mac was locked. Browser interaction checks do not establish pixel-identical layout for every document. No company credentials or user documents are included.
