v0.1.4

@goodshepherd23 goodshepherd23 released this 17 Oct 17:47

Auto Centering: Off now actually turns it off.

The original game levels the bike on two axes with small thruster corrections, and its Options > Auto Centering setting only ever switched off one of them, so the bike kept self-correcting with the option off. With Auto Centering set to Off in the game's Options, both are now off. Measured over test races: 30 leftover corrections per race before, 0 after. Nothing changes when Auto Centering is On.

Prefer the original behaviour? Untick "Auto Centering Off means fully off" under System > Settings > Display.

Also in this build (from v0.1.3): 60 fps, PGXP and widescreen races, all on by default.

Existing installs rebuild once automatically on the next launch.

Enhancements, all on by default and changeable under System > Settings > Display:

  • 60 fps. The game renders at 30 fps; RecompOne's frame interpolation now fills in the frames between (higher rates up to your monitor's refresh are available).
  • No PS1 wobble (PGXP). Fixes shaky polygons and warping textures. The 60 fps mode needs it on.
  • Widescreen races: 16:10, 16:9 (default), 21:9 or off. The 3D view is widened properly, so nothing is stretched and the side culling is widened to match. The HUD stays in the middle 4:3; the pre-drawn menus stay 4:3.
  • Internal resolution stays at 4x (1x to 8x).

Measured on a 15 W Intel laptop, PGXP plus 60 fps uses no more CPU than stock.

Tested on the Canyon track, including cycling camera views. The other tracks and two-player are not tested yet.

Existing installs rebuild once automatically on the next launch. Settings you already changed are kept.

Updates now take effect on their own.

  • JetMoto2.exe remembers which kit version it built. After an update it rebuilds the game once automatically (a minute or two), keeping your settings, cheats and memory cards. Before this, an update kept running the old build until you ran JetMoto2.exe --rebuild.
  • If that automatic rebuild fails (for example the .NET 10 SDK was removed), the previous build still starts.
  • Installs from v0.1.0 or v0.1.1 rebuild once on the first launch after updating, which also brings in the v0.1.1 menu cursor fix.

Same build kit as before: needs the .NET 10 SDK and your own disc in disc\.

v0.1.1

@goodshepherd23 goodshepherd23 released this 15 Oct 19:14

Fixes the glitched selection cursors in the menus.

  • Race type screen: the highlighted button glows orange again instead of drawing as green speckles.
  • Track selection: the dial's centre shows the orange pointer again instead of a grey square.

The menus animate their cursors by uploading a palette, reading it straight back and fading it. RecompOne's GL renderer answers a same-frame readback with stale VRAM, so the game built its glow from the wrong colours. StoreImage now serves palette and texture areas from the CPU-side VRAM copy (patches/GpuPatches.cs); RecompOne itself is unchanged.

Same build kit as v0.1.0: needs the .NET 10 SDK and your own disc in disc\; JetMoto2.exe builds the game on first run. If you already built v0.1.0, run JetMoto2.exe --rebuild once after updating.

@goodshepherd23 goodshepherd23 released this 13 Oct 14:39

First release. Windows x64 only.

This is a build kit, not a prebuilt game. It contains no game code or data. On first run JetMoto2.exe recompiles the game from your own disc image and builds it (a few minutes), then starts it.

Requirements: the .NET 10 SDK and your own dump of Jet Moto 2 - Championship Edition (USA), SCUS-94167, copied into disc\ with Redump file names.

Tested: boot logos, title and menus, attract demo, a player-controlled race, keyboard input, the Infinite Turbo cheat.
Not tested yet: sound and CD music, memory card saving, the other tracks and season modes, two-player, gamepads.
