Which python versions does mediapipe support?

The support for Python 3.13 is in progress, currently the supported versions for mediapipe are Python: version 3.9 - 3.12

I am not convinced about the version support above Python 3.10.

I am trying to run mediapipe-model-maker in any way that I can, but cannot get the basic example to even start.

The example notebooks will not run in Goole Colab, which is now Python 3.12.

I have also tried to set it up locally in venv with Python 3.10. It will typically fail already in the pip install phase due to dependency conflicts (mainly tensorflow or pyyaml). I have managed to get past that, but it then fails on the import statement:

from mediapipe_model_maker import gesture_recognizer

Here the problem appears to be that TensorFlow Addons (TFA) are end-of-life and I get a ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'keras.src.engine'.

I have tried to specify tensorflow 2.15.x but I still get dependency conflicts.
Not sure where to go from here. Has someone got mediapipe-model-maker working in Python 3.12 or Colab?

The current requirement is under development, for now there is a workaround to make the notebooks run in colab, you could follow this issue

Thank you for the tip! I have tried the solution proposed in issue #6070, but it still does not work. That issue is closed so I can't comment there.

It works as far as installing Python 3.11 in the notebook and running !pip install mediapipe-model-maker. I can verify with !pip list that mediapipe 0.10.21, mediapipe-model-maker 0.2.1.4, tensorflow 2.15.1, etc are installed.

When I execute the import line:
from mediapipe_model_maker import gesture_recognizer
I get
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'mediapipe_model_maker'

!which python
!python --version
!pip --version

/usr/local/bin/python
Python 3.11.13
pip 25.2 from /usr/local/lib/python3.11/dist-packages/pip (python 3.11)

I don't understand where this goes wrong.
