LogJSON v1.0.5 — Initial public release

Choose a tag to compare

@greceanii greceanii released this 26 May 18:01

The first public release of LogJSON — a JSON viewer designed for log files. It finds JSON payloads embedded in arbitrary text and gives each one a Monaco editor and a folding tree view.

Install

Download LogJSON-1.0.5-universal.dmg below, open it, drag LogJSON into /Applications. The build is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple — no Gatekeeper warning, no xattr workaround needed.

Universal binary: runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Highlights

Core feature

  • Character-by-character JSON scanner detects every {…} and […] block in arbitrary text
  • Per-block prettify (Cmd+Shift+P) and minify (Cmd+Shift+M) — surrounding log lines stay untouched
  • Cursor-aware navigation: moving the cursor in the editor auto-selects the JSON block under it
  • Multi-window support (Cmd+N)
  • Drag & drop log files into any window

Security

  • contextIsolation, sandbox: true, nodeIntegration: false on every window
  • Strict Content-Security-Policy (no inline scripts, no remote sources)
  • Reply-channel IPC pattern replaces executeJavaScript
  • Save validates content type and caps size at 100 MiB
  • No telemetry, no auto-updater, no network calls at runtime

Offline

  • Monaco Editor and Feather Icons vendored locally — works without an internet connection

Quality

  • 29 unit tests (Vitest) for the JSON scanner
  • 6 end-to-end tests (Playwright on Electron)
  • GitHub Actions CI on macOS

macOS integration

  • Unified titlebar with traffic lights
  • Proxy icon (Cmd-click the title to reveal in Finder)
  • Dirty-dot indicator in the close button
  • Follows system light/dark appearance

Requirements

  • macOS 10.13 or later
  • Apple Silicon or Intel (universal binary)
