@griches griches released this 20 Oct 21:09

Faster first start, with a setup screen.

  • The first start now shows a screen while it sets up the game data from your disc: a progress bar, the time left and a clock, and that it happens only once. It used to show nothing while it worked, so it looked stuck.
  • The setup is quicker: the game data is written in large blocks, with no wait on the console's storage after every file. It takes a few minutes, and it slows down near the end. That's the console's storage, not a hang. Leave it running and the game starts by itself.

Updating: copy the new PPSA99316 folder over the old one. If the game data is already set up, nothing changes for you: your data, saves and settings stay.

New install: copy PPSA99316 to /data/homebrew/, put your own image of the North America (USA) Xbox disc of Burnout 3: Takedown in PPSA99316/dump/, and start the game. No game data is included.

@griches griches released this 20 Oct 19:55

The first PlayStation 5 release of Burnout 3: Takedown, ported from Takedawn 0.2.0.

What you need

  • Your own image of the North America (USA) Xbox disc of Burnout 3: Takedown. Other regions and the PS2 version don't work.

Install

  1. Unzip Burnout3-PS5-0.2.0.zip and copy the PPSA99316 folder to /data/homebrew/.
  2. Put your disc image (.iso or .xiso, any name) in /data/homebrew/PPSA99316/dump/.
  3. Start Burnout 3. The first start checks the disc and sets up the game data (a few minutes, once). Then you can delete the image.

What's in it

  • The original game at 60 fps, 4x render scale, 16:9 with an undistorted HUD.
  • 60 fps crash cameras and split screen, far scenery and vehicle detail.
  • Takedawn's settings menu: touchpad + Options, or TAKEDAWN SETTINGS in the game's menus.
  • PlayStation button prompts and names throughout.
  • The Xbox Live entry is gone from the main menu.

Known issues

  • No picture while the first start sets up the data: notifications show the progress.
  • Some frame-rate dips can happen in busy races.

No game data is included. Unofficial and not affiliated with Electronic Arts, Criterion Games, Microsoft or Sony.
