refryt 0.1.9
Linux — refryt-0.1.9-x86_64.AppImage: download, chmod +x, run. Or use
scripts/appimage-install.sh install from source for a desktop launcher entry.
Linux, Flatpak — refryt-0.1.9-x86_64.flatpak. It isn't on Flathub, so install the file:
flatpak install --user refryt-0.1.9-x86_64.flatpak, then flatpak run io.github.gridoe.refryt.
It needs the GNOME 49 runtime, which Flatpak offers to fetch the first time. mpv and yt-dlp are
inside. The sandbox can't see your browsers' profile folders, so "Import from a Browser" is hidden
and you sign in through the app's own window; "Launch on Startup" is hidden too, since a sandboxed
app can't write a login item.
Windows — two options, cross-compiled from Linux with limited testing on real Windows
hardware:
refryt-0.1.9-windows-x86_64-setup.exe— a real installer (Program Files, Start Menu,
uninstaller). Unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn on first run — expected, not a bug.refryt-0.1.9-windows-x86_64.zip— portable, no install: unzip and runrefryt.exe.
Extract the whole folder before running; the exe needs the DLLs beside it.
macOS — refryt-0.1.9-macos-arm64.dmg, for Apple Silicon only, added to this page after the
other files. Open it and drag Refryt to Applications. It is signed ad hoc and not notarized, so
macOS will refuse to open it on the first launch. Run xattr -cr /Applications/Refryt.app once,
or allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security. libmpv and yt-dlp are bundled; nothing needs
installing.
What changed since 0.1.8:
-
Minimized, the next song plays — on Windows, macOS and X11 a minimized window played its
song out and then stopped, and the media keys did nothing until the window was shown again.
It now goes on to the next song and answers the media keys while minimized or hidden to the
tray. Wayland was not affected. -
Shuffle keeps one order — turning shuffle on draws an order for the rest of the queue,
your own songs before the radio's, and keeps it: Up next shows the songs in the order they
will play, the next one is loaded ahead of time as it is without shuffle, and Previous steps
back through the order they played in. Turning shuffle off goes on in list order from the
song playing. With Repeat All each round gets a new order, never starting with the song that
just ended. -
The volume is kept on a fresh install — a volume set before anything was ever queued was
forgotten on the next launch. -
Changes made while the app is idle are saved at once — a shuffle or volume change from the
desktop's media controls could wait until the window next drew, and was lost if the app was
closed by force before then. -
macOS: fullscreen stays see-through — fullscreen used to show black behind a translucent
window. It now covers the screen on the current desktop and hides the Dock and menu bar, so the
blurred desktop shows through. This fix is in the macOS download only; it landed indc5e1b0,
just after the 0.1.9 tag.
