0.5.19 — 2026-10-02
UI glitch fixes from a sweep of every screen. The sweep covered edit and study mode, light and dark themes, panes from 280 to 900px wide, and phone layout. It included the quiz dialogs and the settings tab.
Layout in narrow panes and on phones
- The header's tool buttons now wrap onto extra lines. Before, the group couldn't wrap, so at about 360px wide the "Reveal 1", "Reveal all" and "Hide all" buttons were pushed past the pane edge and clipped.
- The thumbnail sidebar can now shrink, to at most 40% of the pane. It used to stay at its saved width (200px by default), which squeezed the image column to 21px in a 280px pane. The image area now takes the space left after the sidebar, so the saved sidebar width is still respected in normal-width panes.
Floating cover toolbar
- The toolbar wraps to fit the screen. Its 15 controls were 557px wide in phone layout, which pushed Target and Delete off a phone screen.
- The toolbar sits on Obsidian's popover layer, so dialogs and the command palette now appear on top of it. Before, its z-index of 9999 floated it above them.
- Switching to another tab deselects the cover, so the toolbar no longer floats over the other tab.
Smaller fixes
- The reveal-rail thumb returns to full brightness on hover and while dragging. The faded opacity, set inline, used to override the hover rule.
- Header buttons are rebuilt only when the focused image changes, not on every scroll frame. A click made during momentum scrolling could be lost before.
- With edits locked in Study mode, target regions are click-through. They no longer block the double-click that reveals a cover underneath.
- The "saving is paused" warning has error styling (a red border and red text). It had no styles before.
- Thumbnail tooltips decide whether to flip left using the width of their own window. In a narrower popout window they were cut off before.
Quiz
- In "Show whole image" mode, the image stays hidden until its covers are in place. Before, the labels (the answers) flashed for a moment.
- Image setup runs only once even for cached images. Before, it could stack a second set of covers.
- An image that fails to load now shows "Could not load image: " instead of a blank space under the question.
- The quiz window is wide enough for its images, up to 800px or the window width. Before, 640–720px images overflowed sideways in the default 560px dialog. Phones keep the full-screen dialog.
