A free, zero-to-job-ready DevOps course — from "what is a terminal?" all the way to production- and interview-ready. Systems thinking (not a tool tour), hands-on labs, two capstone projects, ~190 flashcards, and a study plan that gets you to the finish line.
Searchable · dark mode · mobile-friendly · interactive progress tracking · flashcard quiz mode. The site auto-builds from the docs/ markdown on every push.
First deploy takes a couple of minutes after the initial push — check the Actions tab.
- 🆕 New to the terminal / Git / the cloud? Start at docs/00a-preflight.md.
- 🧭 Already comfortable? Open the curriculum index, then M0 — Foundations.
- 🗓️ Want a plan? Follow the Study Plan (12-week or 6-week) and tick off your Progress.
- 🎯 Aiming for a job? See Job-Ready.
You can do almost everything locally with kind (a local Kubernetes) — no cloud bill. An AWS free-tier account is only needed for the optional cloud capstone. Nobody is blocked by cost.
| Part | Covers |
|---|---|
| 0 — Pre-flight | Terminal, YAML, Git, HTTP, networking + a machine/AWS setup runbook + a hands-on Linux command toolkit |
| I — Core toolchain | Foundations, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, sizing/cost, CI/CD, GitOps |
| II — Systems thinking | The connected system (2 loops, 8 bridges, 5 threads) + a Kubernetes-objects connection map (5 buckets) + Follow-One-Commit |
| III — Operate | Observability & SRE, advanced Kubernetes internals, a production incident playbook (26 real issues → fixes) |
| IV — Capstones | URL shortener + MicroShop (microservices) — build the whole stack |
| V — Reference & career | Interview bank, X-vs-Y confusion-busters, hands-on command cheat-sheets (Git/Docker/kubectl/Ansible/Terraform/ArgoCD/Jenkins), M11–M18 roadmap, glossary, flashcards, job-ready checklist |
| VI — Production Gauntlet | Build one real system ("ShopFast") end-to-end to production, then break it with chaos engineering — 12 worked experiments (pod/node/AZ/network/DB-failover/dependency/cert…) → diagnose → senior fix |
How it's built to stick: per-chapter recall gates, hidden quiz answers, predict-first prompts, real production war-stories, and a spaced-review flashcard deck.
