This is the first public alpha release of qbcli — a command-line tool to interact with the qBittorrent WebUI via its API.

qbcli was created as a weekend project to:

• Automate port management and other settings on qBittorrent
• Handle authentication and session cookie management
• Retry gracefully on transient network errors (e.g., timeouts, connection refused)
• Provide a clean CLI interface using Cobra

• Login and session handling (cookie-based)
• Retry support for transient HTTP failures
• Subcommands to:
  • Set preferences (JSON-based)
  • Get/set listening ports
  • Manage authentication state
• Dockerized using Gluetun as the base image
• Builds and publishes to GitHub Container Registry (GHCR)

The image is available at:

Run it with your preferred configuration and Gluetun VPN settings.
