Installation

Requirements

Mac	Apple Silicon
macOS	15 (Sequoia) or later
Account	Administrator, for full measurements and Passwordless Root

Intel Macs and macOS 14 or earlier are not supported. The binaries are built with a minimum deployment target of macOS 15.0, and CI checks this.

Option 1: GitHub Releases (app)

1. Download SDTally-<version>.dmg from Releases.
2. Open the disk image and drag SDTally to Applications.
3. Open it. The first launch is blocked because the app is not notarized by Apple.
4. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll to the message about SDTally and click Open Anyway. Confirm.

The app includes the CLI at SDTally.app/Contents/Helpers/sdtally. You can run it from there:

"/Applications/SDTally.app/Contents/Helpers/sdtally" --help

The app's Info section shows the exact path and ready-to-copy commands.

Option 2: from source

• The CLI alone: cargo build --release gives target/release/sdtally.
• The whole app: app/montar.sh builds, assembles and signs SDTally.app.

Updating

The app never checks for updates and never uses the network. Settings > See New Versions opens the Releases page in your browser.

Uninstalling

1. If you installed Passwordless Root, remove it first: Settings > Remove, or Measurement > Remove Passwordless Root.
2. Quit SDTally (also from the menu bar icon if it is shown).
3. Delete SDTally.app.
4. Optionally delete ~/Library/Application Support/SDTally (saved measurements and history).
5. Optionally remove SDTally from System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access and from Login Items.
