v1.3.0 — Resilient pipelines, richer intelligence, and browser-aware localization
Since v1.2.0, ARA has grown from a polished research dashboard into a more inspectable research system: richer reader-facing views, stronger evidence contracts, broader source coverage, and safer agent execution.
This release is a curated product and operator milestone. It does not enumerate the thousands of scheduled research updates committed since v1.2.0; those remain available in the repository history.
For readers
English by default, Korean when it fits the reader
ARA's canonical source language and fallback remain English. On a first visit, the dashboard selects the first supported language in the browser's preference list—English or Korean—and falls back to English. A saved manual language choice takes precedence over browser detection.
- The interface is localized across Today, Twitter, Models, Research, Wiki, Pricing, and Arm, including filters, dialogs, dates, loading and error states, audio controls, and accessibility labels.
- Korean typography uses Pretendard while preserving the existing reading and model-imprint faces where appropriate.
- Validated Korean research and Wiki content is shown when available. Missing translations fall back visibly to the English original rather than being translated at runtime or silently omitted.
- The first substantial content backfill adds Korean versions of 10 long-form research articles and 30 Wiki pages. Translation coverage is intentionally partial and source-pinned.
New ways to read and compare
- Pricing intelligence: a new
/pricingview joins OpenRouter list prices with Epoch AI benchmark results to show price-versus-capability trade-offs and the Pareto frontier. The view exposes its own freshness and degraded-source state; it is a timestamped comparison, not a real-time quote feed. - Research shelf: the Research archive is now presented as a book shelf with continuous article-opening transitions, while the article reader gains tighter navigation and table-of-contents behavior.
- Search, sharing, and discovery: command-palette search, deterministic per-article social cards, stable forecast URLs, canonical pages, sitemaps, feeds, and clearer 404/noindex behavior make public research easier to find and share.
- Market context: mapped model tickets can show Polymarket probabilities and history; public-company Wiki pages can show timestamped Yahoo-backed market quotes without making volatile prices part of the knowledge index.
- Operational views: Twitter reports gained date navigation and optional side-by-side model comparisons; Wiki pages expose revision history; Arm renders the workflow timeline from committed state.
- Everyday polish: mobile navigation, responsive layouts, persistent digest audio, empty states, and archive behavior received a broad cleanup.
Research quality and source coverage
Evidence that can compound
- A cross-article claim store lets future research find previously verified claims while blocking reuse of volatile, contested, or insufficiently sourced material until it is checked again. Contradiction matches are candidates for adjudication, not automatic verdicts.
- Derived claims now record their inputs, formula, and full-precision result. Publication checks recompute the arithmetic instead of accepting a citation for a number the article calculated itself.
- A bounded
positioncomponent separates an analyst's stated judgment from sourced fact, and tweet-seeded research can inspect attached charts and attributed objections from replies. - The ARA compiler and validators gained stricter structure, citation, provenance, numeric-integrity, and output-shape checks.
A wider but more disciplined input surface
- Added read-only YouTube discovery and transcript evidence.
- Added an SEC EDGAR earnings lane for first-party earnings filings and exhibits from AI-exposed issuers.
- Expanded the expert-blog registry and reviewed Twitter account discovery, including more local-AI and open-source voices.
- Added deterministic datasets for GPU rental asks, public-company quotes, and model price/capability comparisons. These are scheduled snapshots with explicit timestamps and stale-state behavior—not real-time market feeds. GPU rental data is collected as currently rentable on-demand ask pricing and is not yet a dashboard view.
For operators and fork maintainers
Routing is explicit
data/agent-backends.jsonis now the routing source of truth. Workflows resolve lanes at runtime, while a generated backend matrix and CI checks keep workflow mirrors, secrets, models, and fallback order aligned.- ARA can run selected workloads through native Claude, Z.ai GLM, Codex, and isolated OpenCode routes. Provider support is lane-specific: strict comparison and editorial routes deliberately fail closed rather than inheriting a fallback that cannot honor their contract.
- A single expired provider credential no longer has to take down the entire routed fleet; health probes and the ordered cross-provider fallback chain make that dependency visible and recoverable.
Agent execution has harder boundaries
- Expected-output and diff-scope gates reject runs that do not produce their promised artifact or modify undeclared paths.
- Claude Code runs fail closed when its sandbox is unavailable. Pi and OpenCode paths run as non-root processes in hardened containers with constrained mounts; OpenCode output crosses back into the checkout through a validated import boundary.
- Protected-branch publishing now uses run-scoped branches and safe-push pull requests, with explicit handling for conflicts and failed publication.
- Native Birdy replaces the retired Node
birdCLI for read-only X/Twitter access.
Failure is represented honestly
- The daily digest may publish a clearly labelled deterministic fallback so dependent front-page publishing can continue.
- Twitter recovery restores a safe public baseline, records a no-update heartbeat, and still leaves the workflow red when the primary path failed.
- RSS, Community, arXiv, and Bluesky editorial lanes fail closed when trustworthy output is unavailable. Their presence is not presented as successful synthesis.
- Freshness checks, deployment checks, and committed-output contracts make stale or empty lanes observable rather than silently green.
Easier to evaluate and fork
- The repository now includes an MIT license for source code, an account-free dashboard Quickstart,
.env.example, contribution and security guidance, and a clearer boundary between the reproducible dashboard/tooling and the credentialed production pipeline. - The committed research corpus contains source-derived and third-party material and is not relicensed under MIT. The full unattended pipeline still depends on credentials, provider access, and self-hosted infrastructure; the dashboard and offline validation path do not.
Operational note
ARA is continuously deployed from main through Railway; this GitHub release is a human-readable milestone, not a separate deployment artifact. Static SEO and social metadata remain English in this release, even when the interactive dashboard is displaying Korean.
Full comparison: v1.2.0...v1.3.0
v1.2.0 — Global search over digest + twitter; header refinements
Global search content indexing
Digest sections and twitter cycles are now searchable jump targets in the ⌘F command palette, alongside Research / Wiki / Model. prebuild.mjs builds a bounded search-index.json (14 recent digests, 21 recent twitter days); clicking a hit navigates to the date and scrolls to the section/cycle.
Header / typography
- Search button moved to the top-right; shortcut is now ⌘F / Ctrl+F.
- The
ai-research-armwordmark is a Home link. - Tighter global letter-spacing.
Merged via #133.
v1.1.0 — Minimalist redesign, global search, wiki hovers
Builds on v1.0.0's unified design system with an aggressive simplify-for-clarity pass across ara.guzus.xyz. (#132, follows #126/#127.)
Global search (⌘K)
A command palette that searches research articles + wiki pages + model tickets from any tab — ranked, type-badged results; click or ↑/↓ + Enter jumps to the item. Opens with ⌘K / Ctrl+K / / / the magnifier.
Wiki-mention hover links
Entities in the digest, Twitter, and articles are underlined; hovering shows a quick-look preview and a click opens the wiki page (cross-tab) — read faster, discover more.
Minimalist header
The calendar pill replaces the Today tab as the day-view entry (click opens the digest; a popover picks any date). Removed the language toggle, the always-on search bar (→ magnifier), and the floating section-nav / shortcut / refresh chrome.
Model Timeline
Short cards (status now reads from color-coded column headers), a click opens a detail modal (metadata + history timeline + body + sources), and a unified filter bar (status + company). Mobile kanban stacks.
Declutter
Newspaper trimmed (kicker / edition label / deck / in-edition nav / Signal-Mix meters gone; departments unfold by default); Twitter dedup (no double Skeptic's-corner, full Signal Brief); bare audio player; tighter typography; redundant headings/dates removed.
Dashboard-only (CSS/TS) — no data, schema, or validator changes. Deployed via Railway on merge to main.
v1.0.0 — Unified ara design system
First tagged release. The dashboard at ara.guzus.xyz now presents a single, coherent design system across every surface — the gen-research ara-* component vocabulary, extended product-wide.
Unified design spine (#126)
- Promoted the
ara-*palette (navy / royal-blue / cyan + airy rules, light + dark) from.ara-docto global:root; the shell, indexes, digest, and articles now share one ink/accent/rule family instead of three decoupled palettes. - Re-skinned the daily front-page newspaper onto the same spine (navy ink, royal accents, Source Serif masthead) — and gave it working dark mode for the first time.
Component-native views (#127)
- Model Timeline: removed the hardcoded Jira/Atlassian palette override; per-ticket history →
ara-timeline, labels →ara-tag, metadata →ara-kv, verification →ara-flag. Now themed + dark-mode correct. - Twitter: Verify/Watch signals →
ara-callout(color keyed off the ✓/⚠ verdict); Skeptic's corner surfaced as a danger callout. - Wiki: pages render as ara entity cards (eyebrow + summary callout +
ara-kvmetadata + tags); recent-changes rail removed; full-width catalog.
Native tweet cards
- Replaced heavy third-party iframe embeds with lightweight native tweet cards (avatar, author, verified tick, text, likes/replies, time), hydrated at build time from X's syndication endpoint into
research/tweets.json. No runtime third-party script.
Polish
- Newspaper decluttered (dropped tagline kicker, edition label, deck blurb, in-edition nav); independent newspaper/digest scroll; Twitter cycle-summary alignment fix.
All changes are CSS + dashboard-render only — no article content, ARA_CATALOG, validator, or pipeline-schema changes. Deployed via Railway on merge to main.
