  • Folder import now handles "one epub/cbz per volume" directory layouts (BUG-1646)

Interconnect / Sync

  • Full manga support: manifests, manga package download and push, and placeholder cards on the manga shelf (BUG-1640)
  • Full remote video support: audio tracks, secondary subtitles, series-level timing offsets, sweep, and watched markers
  • Audiobook timing offsets now sync across devices; playback preferences (audio track, secondary subtitle source, timing offset) all moved into the sync channel
  • Fixed favorited words/sentences propagating across devices, SRT-only progress not syncing, a dead-end card on the dashboard, and the dashboard and library failing to refresh after progress was pulled forward (BUG-1642 / 1637 / 1638 / 1650 / 1620)

Video

  • Restored d3d11va zero-copy on Windows (BUG-1644); when the interop surface fails, it now falls back to the upstream EGL display instead of dropping video enhancement along with it (BUG-1657)
  • Fixed the nvdec crash on playback start (Windows, BUG-1639)
  • Default subtitle font weight 700 → 400, matching mpv; the top bar now allocates width to buttons first, so the title no longer hogs a third of it

Downloads

  • Android gains the built-in libtorrent engine — downloading works out of the box on mobile
  • Stopped idle discovery traffic

galgame

  • In-game lookup now completes the full hit → frame-projection path, rendering through an off-screen card window; KiriKiri support stabilized
  • Hooked dialogue overlay switched to desktop-lyrics style rendering (outline, drop shadow, translucent backdrop)
  • Fixed the in-game lookup toggle breaking after switching sessions, and Naninovel subtitles being lost across scene changes

Lookup & UI

  • Fixed nested lookup running text across node boundaries, which made English words impossible to find (BUG-1645)
  • Fixed furigana units being treated as render breakpoints, which split ruby-annotated words into single characters (BUG-1659)
  • Settings, dictionary, and browser-extension pages now share one page-header component, aligning pixel-exact across pages (BUG-1658)
  • Removed the forced 960px width cap on the settings page (BUG-1643)
  • Bangumi sync now retries automatically once the backoff expires, instead of only on a manual sync (BUG-1647)
  • Subtitle books can be re-imported — audio and subtitles are swapped from the same entry point
  • Jumping to Anki now actually brings its window to the front (BUG-1641)

Fushi Release Notes (Hibiki 1.2.0 → Fushi 2.0)

⚠️ Upgrade Notes (read before upgrading from Hibiki)

Android: one manual install, data can be migrated

The package name changes from app.hibiki.reader to app.fushi.reader with a brand-new signing key. As far as Android is concerned these are two different apps, so it cannot auto-update in place. The migration path is:

  1. Your existing Hibiki receives a bridge update first, which adds a "Migrate to Fushi" entry.
  2. Starting the migration exports your database, dictionaries, books, and audiobooks in batches to a staging directory on the device, then guides you to download and install the new Fushi package manually.
  3. On first launch Fushi scans the staging directory and imports batch by batch. The old app then enters a migrated read-only state and offers to guide you through uninstalling it.

Uninstalling requires your confirmation in the system dialog; the app cannot uninstall itself.

Desktop (Windows / macOS / Linux): automatic, nothing to do

  • Windows: the installer identity is unchanged, so it upgrades in place as usual; on first launch it moves %APPDATA%\Hibiki to %APPDATA%\Fushi.

Other things to know

  • Audiobooks may need their audio re-imported. After migrating from Hibiki, some audiobooks can lose the link to their audio files and play no sound. Re-importing the audio file for those books restores playback.
  • Dropbox sync needs to be re-authorized. It now uses new application credentials with an App Folder sandbox, which cannot reach the old /hibiki-data root. Google Drive has always used the hidden app data space and migrates automatically, with no action needed.
  • Interconnect requires upgrading every device. The service name changes from _hibiki-sync._tcp to _fushi-sync._tcp, so old and new versions cannot discover each other.
  • Mixed Anki tags are expected. Cards created from 2.0 onward are tagged fushi by default, while cards already in your Anki collection keep their existing hibiki tag. Update any saved searches or filtered decks accordingly.
  • Downloads: the release repository is now github.com/hajisensai/Fushi.

✨ New Features

galgame

  • New game library: 3:4 portrait poster grid, dual-source metadata scraping (Bangumi / VNDB), a three-tab detail page with a playtime chart, and its own dashboard.
  • In-game lookup: click individual characters directly on the game screen, with click-through targeting and a pinned lookup card — no need to leave the game.
  • Engine-wide text hooking: LunaHook is now integrated; text threads are separated per thread with a preview pane, so you can pick the right one manually.
  • Per-line original voice: original voice data is captured from inside the engine.
  • Built-in upscaling: Magpie ships with the app, configurable per game.

PDF reader

Import PDFs with page rendering, click-to-look-up, mining from selection, table-of-contents navigation, and bookmarks.

One-click anime downloads

AniList search, automatic Nyaa torrent selection, per-episode Jimaku subtitle matching, and automatic library import — end to end. Desktop uses the built-in download engine by default and works out of the box, with no external download client required.

Video

  • Automatic online scraping: covers, synopses, episode titles, and related-work recommendations are fetched automatically, and the library groups by series. Supports aggregated TMDB / Bangumi sources.
  • Split collections by season: automatic or manual grouping with a preview dialog and prequel/sequel chains; multi-season collections get season tabs, and per-season progress is reported to Bangumi.
  • Waveform subtitle alignment: a new waveform panel lets you drag to fine-tune timing and zoom in.
  • Hold for temporary speed-up (default E, matching the mobile long-press gesture).
  • Clip export: export the segment you are watching together with its subtitles as a video file.
  • Cross-device playback: with interconnect, videos in a collection continue across devices, and external subtitles are pushed along with the video automatically.

Reading & manga

  • Manga extension ecosystem: browse, search, and install third-party manga sources, with preview before installing (metadata plus a real content trial).
  • mokuro.moe online catalog: browse, search, and download with resume support, importing directly on completion.
  • iOS and macOS can now open local manga and run OCR.
  • Manual box-select re-recognition, with results shown in a card.
  • One-click conversion between books and manga; customizable manga reading shortcuts, with OCR results syncing across devices.
  • E-ink mode: a pure black-and-white theme with high-contrast body text and underline-style highlighting, with page transitions and ripples disabled.
  • Image spoiler masking: illustrations in passages you have not reached are blurred until you read past them.
  • Books and audiobooks can be manually marked as finished.

Lookup & mining

  • Visual Anki template editor (Lapis): adjust block positions, field mappings, and arbitrary colors visually, with backup/restore and automatic migration on startup.
  • Lapis visual configuration can be applied to a host's Anki over interconnect, so you can edit templates from your phone.
  • Byte-level Anki media deduplication: periodic storage optimization.
  • English cards include IPA by default; AnkiConnect is now available on both Android and iOS; mining requests can be forwarded to a paired host's Anki.
  • The browser extension gains a streaming subtitle bridge, with global track offset, playback modes, and shortcuts.
  • Desktop transparent clipboard lookup window: a hover toolbar, pin button, optional taskbar presence as a selectable window, top-edge hover reveal for the panel bar, and clipboard history.
  • Mining cover animations support AVIF / WebP (AVIF by default); image and audio quality become user-adjustable sliders.
  • Alt + scroll jumps to the next entry in the lookup popup (rebindable); game dialogue overlays and the clipboard text window support furigana.
  • Dictionary downloads are now cancellable and can run in the background.

Sync & interconnect

  • Delete from all devices now propagates to the paired interconnect host.
  • Interconnect is decoupled from the cloud backup backend into its own switch, so both can run side by side; per-item upload toggles are now interconnect-specific.
  • Mining to a paired device moves under interconnect, and interconnect itself can be used as a backup backend.
  • In-app self-update on macOS (iOS is information-only).

Library & collections

  • Batch operations: long-press to enter multi-select, Shift range select, and long-press sweep select, for bulk tagging, deleting, and adding to collections.
  • The book and video libraries gain search, normalized consistently with the game library (full-width/half-width and katakana/hiragana are interchangeable).
  • Tags extend to collections (tagging and filtering); game tags merge across devices by scraped identity.
  • Clearing favorites becomes a scoped, checkbox-based bulk delete (bookmarks, saved sentences, mined sentences, saved words).

Settings

  • Search inside settings: filter options across categories, with scroll-to and highlight on the result.
  • A new in-app changelog viewer.
  • Gamepad bindings support live key capture.

🎨 Interface

Layout refresh: the home page gains a dashboard and activity feed, and the import entries, library navigation, settings categories, and page headers across all four modules are unified.

🐛 Fixes

Known issues fixed across dictionary lookup, video playback and subtitles, reading and manga, sync and interconnect, backup and migration, and the interface — including lookup stalls, words not found after a dictionary update, dead paging in two-page spread mode, and shortcuts not working under Chinese IMEs. Antivirus false positives during updates are also reduced.

(Hibiki 1.2.0 → Fushi 2.0)

Android:

包名从 app.hibiki.reader 改为 app.fushi.reader,并启用了全新签名。

  • 下载地址:发布仓库已改名为 github.com/hajisensai/Fushi

Hibiki 1.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Jul 17:58

Hibiki Release Notes (v1.1.0 → 1.2.0)

This release centers on cross-device unified collections & tag sync, a big video subtitle & playback upgrade, the transparent clipboard lookup panel (experimental), and resizable dictionary popups on every surface — plus a large batch of reader / lookup / video / sync fixes and a unified Material Design 3 UI across all platforms.

✨ New Features

  • Cross-device unified collections & tags: collections, tags, per-book CSS and deletions sync across devices; the library mixes remote/cloud items in as placeholder cards in one unified grid.
  • Transparent clipboard lookup panel (experimental): a translucent floating text window.
  • Resizable dictionary popups everywhere: drag a corner to resize the popup — in the in-app reader, the Windows overlay window, and the browser extension — each surface remembers its own size, with follow/unlock semantics and higher size caps.
  • Video subtitle overhaul (ASS): \t transform animation, per-syllable karaoke coloring, 3D rotation, letter-spacing, true \clip/\iclip vector clipping; content-rect-based font/outline scaling; bilingual flicker fixed; subtitle text/background color pickers.
  • Subtitle alignment tool upgrade: bigger dialog with a subtitle list, play/pause, and a smooth playhead.
  • Jimaku batch subtitles: download subtitles for a whole collection at once, sorted by language + episode with AniList series disambiguation.
  • Browser extension subtitles (experimental): fetch real YouTube captions via the Hibiki server, and load external subtitle files onto any web video (asbplayer-style).
  • Video quality: rebuilt "Ultra" quality path on Anime4K Mode A UL; a lazy-parsed YouTube quality selector.
  • Video mining: card cover image now offers three modes (GIF / screenshot at mining time / screenshot from subtitle start).
  • Native "Select sentence context" dialog: mining's context picker is now a native top-level dialog instead of being drawn inside the lookup popup.
  • "Open in Anki" for mined words: already-mined words in the lookup popup gain a button that opens their existing card directly in Anki.
  • Cross-device video: upload local videos to another device over the interconnect, and pull cloud audiobooks (incl. standalone SRT) across devices.
  • Reading-stats momentum: the stats header now shows streak / today / this-week-vs-last / daily average.
  • Anki local audio-source preset: adds a preset audio source under "Manage audio sources" that points at an external local audio server (the Yomitan-ecosystem local-audio-server on localhost:5050) — off by default.
  • Android native folder/video picker via the system SAF picker.

🔧 Improvements

  • Unified Material Design 3 UI on all 5 platforms under auto (Cupertino / macOS renderer kept only as hidden internal capability).
  • Bookshelf / video-library "Continue" hero now includes audiobooks; shelves react live to DB row-set changes.
  • Dictionary popup default max columns widened to 3 on mobile too; auto-expanded dictionary count follows the column count.
  • Backup export now gates personal data by feature category (item-by-item selection).

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Video: YouTube captions vanishing (timedtext format-3 parsing), old subtitle not clearing when seeking into a gap, no audio on some 6.1 layouts, hover accidentally closing the subtitle list, fully-cloud collections showing "0 episodes", remote-list timeout leaking raw errors into toasts, fullscreen episode-switch leaking the nav stack so ESC backed out layer-by-layer, bilingual bottom-line dialogue overlapping across layers.
  • Reader: lyrics-mode flicker / stuck-on-first-line / audio-follow not scrolling, mixed-layout books mis-pairing text and illustration chapters as spreads, mobile selection handles that couldn't be dragged.
  • Subtitles (ASS): \blur blurring the glyph face, Bold=0 being force-bolded, Layer mis-stacking karaoke as vertical text, scaling baseline corrected.
  • Sync: interconnect video-list timeout/404 degradation.
  • Theme: auto is now MD3 on every platform.
  • Backup: category-gated export.

  • 全 5 平台在 auto 下统一 Material Design 3 UI(Cupertino / macOS renderer 仅保留为隐藏内部能力)。

Hibiki 1.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Jul 18:39

Hibiki Release Notes (v1.0.1 → 1.1.0)

This is a major release: it introduces Unified Collections, Video Danmaku (experimental), YouTube / Netflix watch-and-batch mining (experimental), and a standalone floating clipboard / global lookup panel, while greatly improving lookup speed, subtitle rendering, and UI layout, and fixing many issues across reading, lookup, audiobooks, video, and sync. (Online video playback, subtitle enhancements, and similar features are likewise experimental and still being polished.)

✨ New Features

  • Unified Collections: Books and videos share one collection system; a collection occupies its own row in the library with in-row left/right episode switching, and each episode can have its own cover.
  • Video Danmaku (experimental): Built-in danmaku matching (no API key required), with manual matching, danmaku styling, and blocked-word filtering (off by default).
  • Watch-and-Batch Mining (experimental): While watching YouTube / Netflix in the browser, queue sentences with unknown words, then batch-generate Anki cards with screenshots and audio in one tap when you're done.
  • Clipboard / Global Lookup Floating Panel: A persistent semi-transparent lookup panel that auto-looks-up any copied text, with its own taskbar icon, adjustable opacity, and click-to-bring-to-front.
  • Network Book Sources: Added WebDAV / SFTP / FTP online book sources.
  • Online Video Playback (experimental): YouTube high-quality split streams, HLS multi-resolution, and drag-in import of browser video links.
  • Comprehensive Subtitle Enhancements (experimental): Honors original ASS subtitle styling, bilingual side-by-side, glow / fade / rotate-scale effects, horizontal margins, and hard line breaks.
  • Subtitle Alignment Tool: Audio waveform visualization for real-time fine-tuning of subtitle timing offset.
  • Reader Hover Continuous Lookup: Hold Shift and move the mouse; the lookup popup follows the cursor for continuous lookup.
  • "Select Sentence Context" When Mining: Preview and manually pick the context sentences to save before creating a card.
  • Dictionary Popup Visual Upgrade: Compact box layout, glass-textured cards, pitch-accent pills, SVG icons, and dual columns that can fill the width on desktop.
  • Improved Gamepad Support: Gamepad control in the player and in fullscreen; the shortcuts page shows real controller glyphs distinguishing Xbox / PS / Switch.
  • Improved Backup Import: Item-by-item category selection, merge/overwrite support, and automatic restart to apply after import.
  • Reading Stats Upgrade: Lookup/mining counts, daily and weekly goal progress, clear stats, and long-press to delete a single book.
  • Audiobook Clip Export: Per-sentence highlight following, vertical-text support, and optional inline illustrations.
  • Dictionary MDX Enhancements: Automatic mounting of .mdd media and compatibility with encrypted dictionaries.
  • Star Rating Tags: Built-in default tags changed to 1-5 stars for one-tap rating.
  • Reader Illustration Chapter Merge: Illustration-only chapters can be merged into body chapters (toggleable).

🔧 Improvements

  • Faster lookup: major performance optimization of the lookup hot path.
  • UI layout: wide-window header buttons expand to "icon + text"; the top of the bookshelf/video library adds "Continue Reading / Continue Watching" plus a library overview; card sizes unified.
  • Popup zoom: added A- / A+ font-size buttons and Ctrl+scroll zoom.
  • The reader's top progress bar can collapse/float, and the bottom bar has frosted-glass transparency.
  • Cross-platform auto-update; the default icon changed to a white rounded-square icon that stays clear on any wallpaper.
  • Global shortcuts, mouse-button bindings, and window-level fullscreen are customizable.
  • LAN interconnect: TLS-encrypted pairing, PIN brute-force protection, and cross-device merging of stats/progress/favorites.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Reader: page/chapter skipping, restore-position mix-ups, vertical-text ruby misalignment, lost illustration chapters, and blank screen when opening VN books.
  • Video: black/flicker screens on Windows/Android, disappearing subtitles, bilingual bottom collapse/overlap, YouTube/Netflix playback & mining anomalies, and Anime4K shaders not taking effect.
  • Sync/Interconnect: connection failures, garbled pairing-token display, lingering phantom remote books, and lost audio sources on backup merge.
  • Updater: getting stuck at "Connecting", and installer/staging-directory residue not being cleaned up.

🧪 Experimental Support (iOS / macOS)

The following iOS / macOS features are still experimental; stability and experience are being continuously refined.

  • Native macOS shell (macos_ui sidebar window) and a macOS-style stats page.
  • Fixes: sandbox crash on data-location switch.

@hajisensai hajisensai released this 01 Aug 18:05

Permanent asset host for libmpv builds consumed by the vendored media_kit_libs_* packages. Assets here are never deleted or retagged, so a clean checkout can always build (upstream mirrors prune on a rolling window).

Android, FFmpeg 6.1.6, full flavor (all decoders, incl. truehd/mlp for BUG-073):
built from hajisensai/libmpv-android-video-build @ hibiki/ffmpeg-6.1.6, run 30710907403.
Upstream media-kit ships FFmpeg 6.0, which is off the maintenance branches (TODO-1137).

Hibiki 1.0.1

This stable release first fixes the issue where card creation could miss the sentence, and includes the reader, bookshelf, theme, backup, update-check, and release-asset improvements verified during the 1.0.1 beta cycle.

English

Added and Changed

  • Added the initial entry point for Visual Novel reader mode (unfinished, available for testing).
  • Added an experimental desktop data-directory migration entry point in Settings, with root-directory migration and attempted automatic restart; back up first before migrating.
  • Added series grouping, collapsible series cards, series details, and custom ordering to the bookshelf.
  • Custom themes now support multiple theme sets, palette switching, long-press editing, and share codes.
  • Audiobooks can now export and share audio clips from a text selection, including clipping sentence audio directly from reader selections.
  • Added the usage-document link to the README.

Fixed

  • Fixed card creation losing or missing sentence context, including reader right-click lookup, sentence favorites, and selection export paths.
  • Fixed selective-resource protection for backup import/export as a whole: imports preserve local sync settings and credentials; backups without dictionaries no longer clear local dictionary metadata, history, or resource files; local audio is now a separate backup category to avoid losing local audio assets during selective backup/import.
  • Fixed SRT/audiobook entries opened from the bookshelf not registering the reader media source, which could leave sentence-favorite flows unable to read the current media source.
  • Fixed regressions in video/reader tap lookup hits, Windows global lookup vertical rendering, Android focus highlights, log-selection scrolling, WebView disposal, and related areas.
  • Fixed update-source compatibility after the GitHub username migration: in-app update sources, GitHub links, README download links, and release scripts now target hajisensai/hibiki, while hdjsadgfwtg/hibiki remains as the legacy username fallback.
  • Fixed repeated prompts for the same beta after a desktop beta build has already been installed, with regression coverage for desktop buildNumber and Android ABI versionCode restoration.
  • Fixed the APK CI main-app test failure so stable release workflows can continue into the packaging stage.
