v0.8.2 - 2026-10-25

Bug fixes

  • Clear a Checklist: update_todo(checklist_items=[]) now clears the checklist. Previously the empty list was silently dropped and the existing items stayed. Omitting checklist_items still leaves the checklist alone. (#73, thanks @seanoliver)
  • Logbook Includes Canceled Items: get_logbook now returns canceled items alongside completed ones, matching the Things Logbook. Each item's status tells them apart. (#60 / #64, thanks @ggfevans)
  • get_recent Window: period: "1d" now means the last 24 hours. things.py compares local creation times against UTC "now", so the window was skewed by the machine's UTC offset (in UTC-7, 1d covered about 17 hours). Month periods like 2m, which the tool advertised but things.py rejected, now work. The description now says it returns open items only.

Features

  • Project-Scoped Completed Items: get_logbook gains project_uuid, and search_advanced gains project and stop_date, so a project's completed history no longer means pulling the whole Logbook. Items under the project's headings are included. (#58 / #66, thanks @ggfevans)
  • Reminder Times and Tags in Text Output: To-dos with a reminder now show Reminder: HH:MM, and projects and areas show Tags: .... Clients that only show the text channel could previously set these but not read them back.
  • ChatGPT and Codex Setup: README instructions for the ChatGPT desktop app and Codex. (#68, thanks @benslen)

Maintenance

  • things.py 1.0.1: The lock file moves from things.py 0.0.15 to 1.0.1, which uvx / .mcpb installs were already resolving. Adds the reminder_time field to to-dos that have a reminder.
  • Test Fix: test_construct_url_encodes_slash_in_values now mocks things.token(), so the suite passes on machines without Things installed.
  • Integration Test Plan: New checks for the changes above, plus a note on which checks Claude Desktop (structured output only) and Cowork (text only) can see.
