Godot AI Sidebar v2.7.0

Install: unpack the archive into your project root so you get
addons/godot_sidebar_ai/, then enable Godot AI Sidebar under
Project -> Project Settings -> Plugins.

Godot 4.7+ required. GDScript projects only.

Highlights

AI-native UI layout telemetry (inspect_ui_layout)
The agent can inspect the Control/Container hierarchy of both your edited scene
and its own sidebar, with cumulative container overflow checking
(UI_CONTAINER_OVERFLOW), effective-visibility filtering, and theme/StyleBox
analysis.

Headless static compiler & scene validator (typecheck.ps1)
Compiles and loads every GDScript and scene under addons/ and tests/ without
opening the editor, in about 1.5 seconds. Wired to Ctrl+Shift+B in VS Code.

Centralized design system (AISidebarTheme)
Deep slate / midnight dark token architecture, semantic colour tokens, ghost
buttons, focus borders and inline state indicators.

Also in this release

Everything from 2.1.0 through 2.6.0 is included, since no archive was published
for those versions:

  • Clarification (ask_user) - the agent pauses and asks when a request is
genuinely ambiguous, rather than guessing. Includes a dedicated
WAITING_FOR_CLARIFICATION state and inline option buttons.
  • Chat persistence & history - sessions stored as isolated JSON under
user://sidebar_ai_chats/, with search, rename and delete. API keys are never
    written to a session file.
  • Surgical script editing (replace_file_content) - line-level diffs with
GDScript validation before anything reaches disk.
  • Live SSE streaming, @mention autocompletion, queued messages,
    context compaction, and runtime inspection
    (inspect_runtime_tree, inspect_runtime_node).
  • Antigravity CLI provider - talk to an agy session over a persistent
subprocess, with no HTTP layer and no API key.

Correctness fix in this version

supports_vision() previously returned false for any model id that did not
match a hardcoded keyword list. Models routed through aliases such as a or
code therefore had image input silently disabled even when the backing model
supported it. Capability detection is now a pure function, honours an explicit
vision_capable setting, and defers to the server for unrecognised model ids
instead of blocking them.

Verification

  • Static compile & scene load: 129/129 GDScript, 4/4 scenes
  • Test suite: 55 suites / 331 assertions, 0 failures
  • Verified on both a clean checkout (no config.json) and a working tree with
    local provider settings.

Known limitations

  • AGY CLI startup latency - starting an agy session can briefly block the
editor while the subprocess initialises its stdio pipes. Under active
    investigation.
  • No vision over AGY CLI - the agy stream-json interface does not accept
image data. Use an OpenAI-compatible provider for image analysis.
  • Godot 4.7+ and GDScript only.
