The Chronicler v0.1.0

First release of the local-first memory core for the autonomous AI software
factory.

Watches the EdgeRecord ledger, extracts failure heuristics through local
Ollama, and commits hardened rules and lore docs back to Git.

What it does

  • Meta-learning brain. ChroniclerBrain.run_cycle scoops the latest failure
batch, asks the local model, formats the fix into the target ruleset, and
    commits rules and docs.
  • Data contracts. ExecutionAuditLog, ExtractedHeuristic and
DocUpdatePayload as Pydantic models and JSON Schemas, so every stage
    validates its input and output.
  • Layered architecture. Strict separation between the watcher, the brain,
the rules layer, the docs layer and the git layer.
  • Local git committer. LocalGitCommitter writes LLM payloads to disk and
runs the local git commit and push with no human in the loop.

Safety and hardening

  • Path-traversal guard in the committer (UnsafePathError) before any write.
  • Heuristic ids are deterministically derived from
(failure_category, fingerprint), so dedupe across cycles is stable.
  • Watermarking via ChroniclerState prevents re-processing the same ledger
    entries.
  • Push is configurable (CHRONICLER_GIT_PUSH) and commit receipts are captured
    per cycle.

Commands

  • chronicler run — run a single orchestration cycle.
  • chronicler watch — run the headless daemon loop.
  • chronicler doctor — run local black-ops health checks.
