Verifying your download

SHA256SUMS.txt covers all seven binaries above. Put it in the same directory as the files you
downloaded and run:

sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt

On Windows PowerShell, for a single file:

Get-FileHash .\Aethon-VPN-v2.1.1-Windows-x64-Installer.exe -Algorithm SHA256

sha256sum -c reports FAILED open or read for any listed file you did not download; that is
expected. Every file you did download must report OK.

Core integrity

The app enforces its core binary's SHA-256 at startup and fails closed — if the core does not
match the digest pinned in scripts/aether-pins.json, no connection is made. The binaries in this
release were verified against those pins before publishing (4/4: aether.exe plus all three
libaether.so ABIs).

Known issues

  • All four APKs include assets/psiphon-LICENSE.txt (GPL-3.0) for software that is not
    distributed
in them — no Psiphon binary or code is present. The license file is included by an
over-broad asset rule in the Android build and will be scoped in a later release. It does not
indicate GPL-3.0 code in these builds.

Notes

Windows builds are not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen and some antivirus engines may warn on
first run; verify the SHA-256 above before running.
