Initial release of OutboundGuardBundle, a development/testing tool for finding excessive, repeated and slow outbound Symfony HttpClient calls.

Included

  • Transparent observation of default and scoped HttpClient services.
  • Configurable call-count, total-duration and slow-call budgets.
  • Deterministic duplicate grouping and warnings, with immutable reports for tests.
  • Optional native Symfony profiler panel and toolbar.
  • Request reset isolation, query-free keyed fingerprints, and paths hidden by default.
  • MIT license and documentation covering configuration, privacy and limitations.

Compatibility and validation

  • Symfony 6.4 / PHP 8.1+, Symfony 7.4 / PHP 8.2+, Symfony 8.1 / PHP 8.4.1+.
  • 75 tests and 329 assertions; PHPStan level 8; strict Composer and PSR-4 checks.
  • CI covers all three Symfony branches and lowest supported dependencies.
  • Clean archive installation and core operation verified without Twig/WebProfiler.

This is an initial release. Evaluation in a real application and user feedback will guide subsequent versions. Register the bundle only for development and testing.

Installation

Install the published package from Packagist in a compatible Symfony application:

composer require --dev hanane/outbound-guard-bundle

No custom repository is required. Then follow the bundle registration and configuration steps in the README.

The observer preserves buffer settings supplied per request or through withOptions() on the monitored client. Implicit buffering defaults set only on an inner client cannot be discovered through HttpClientInterface; see the README for this and other limitations.
