What's new since 0.2.0
A beta for the Harmony One and One+. Please try it and tell us how it goes, in the Discord or on GitHub issues.
Harmony One and One+ (experimental)
- Built from scratch from your devices and activities: the Activities menu, device pages, activity screens with favourites and their logos, Off, Options, the keypad lights, sleep and wake, and the USB and charging screens.
- Import the configuration already on your remote: devices with their commands, power and inputs, and activities with their buttons, keys and favourites.
- Help, the Remote Assistant and the Tutorial work as Logitech's did.
- Written only through Test write, which backs the remote up first.
All remotes
- Logitech's device database is now our own archive, harmony-ir-archive, read a device at a time. It includes commands learned in Logitech's software, which were missing before.
- Smart TVs wait for their apps: Netflix is only chosen once the TV's apps are up after power-on. Every device gets Logitech's settle time after switching inputs. Both are on the device's Timing page.
- The activity editor no longer crashes on activities with held commands (#7). Activities with no type open as Custom / Other.
The full list, and the known issues, are in the changelog.

Afterglow v0.2.0
What's new since 0.1.1
New remotes and platforms
- Harmony 1100 (experimental): read, import and rebuild its configurations: every command, activities and their touchscreen pages. Both model numbers (skins 62 and 63) and both board revisions are recognised. It is written only through Test write, which backs the remote up first. It has been checked against the 1100's own firmware (6.9 to 7.7), but few have tried it yet, so please report how it goes.
- A macOS app (
.dmg, Apple Silicon and Intel). It talks to the Harmony 900/1000/1100 over USB by itself, with no driver needed.
Connecting to the remote
- Direct access on Windows: on first connection, Afterglow offers to move the remote to a USB driver built into Windows instead of Logitech's old one, which many current PCs refuse. Settings > Remote connection switches either way.
- Direct access on Linux: a udev rule, installed with one password prompt, as an alternative to the network link.
- The bundles carry Afterglow's own libconcord, which reaches the 900/1000/1100 over USB directly wherever it can.
Writing safely
- Test write: the remote is backed up first, the result is read back and checked, and the backup can be restored.
- Settings > Flash a Configuration File: puts any
.ezhex(a backup, for example) back onto the remote as it is.
Projects
- Shareable projects (
.afterglow): one file holding a project and every protocol and picture it needs, so it builds on any computer (File > Export Shareable Project). - The remote a project is for is shown in a new status bar, and a project can be moved to another remote with every change previewed first.
- A default remote: the first start asks which Harmony you have and opens a project for it.
- Unsaved changes are marked, and New, Open and Import ask before replacing them.
- Your device library and logos now live in
Documents/Afterglow, next to your projects.
Editing
- Every physical button on the Harmony 900 can be mapped in an activity, under the names the remote uses.
- An activity's power plan: which devices turn on, in what order, and which turn off.
- How a device switches inputs (directly, by stepping, or not at all) and how it takes channel numbers.
- Skip and replay keys are filled from the device's own commands, as Logitech did.
- The interface follows the project's remote: only what that remote can do is offered.
- Help > Connecting a Remote walks through the first connection.
Bug fixes
Many bug fixes across the four betas. The most important: Harmony 900 configurations that froze the remote (Help, Remote info, Advanced RF), "Failed with error 14" on Windows, crashes in the macOS app, remotes wrongly refused over their board revision, and held buttons on imported Harmony 1100 configurations. See the changelog for the full list.
Known issue: with a large configuration, the Harmony 900's screen can stay white after a restart until the remote has gone to sleep once. It works normally from then on.
