Repository navigation
RepoPilot v0.1.0 is the first documented preview of a local-first codebase explorer built with FastAPI, React/Vite, Git and optional Ollama.
Get started without any paid model API
- Upload a ZIP of your own small repository to browse its source tree and search real file/line references.
- On Linux or macOS, import a public GitHub repository over validated HTTPS. Windows currently supports ZIP upload, not backend Git cloning.
- Optionally add a local Ollama model to ask source-grounded questions or request a heuristic architecture explanation. No model is required to import or search.
- Switch between repositories without showing stale search results or delayed answers from the previous one.
Verified engineering evidence
- 95 Python backend tests (Python 3.11, 3.12 and 3.13), three frontend health-contract tests, production Vite build and a real FastAPI/Vite browser ZIP/index/search test with a controlled late AI reply.
- Python and JavaScript CodeQL security-extended CI pass on this source commit.
- Documented early multipart-body admission, ZIP traversal/collision checks, persisted logical-storage quota, fail-fast import/AI admission, Git subprocess process-group cleanup and failure rollback.

What this release does not prove
The browser's AI response is deterministically stubbed; no production LLM answer-quality claim is made. Imported code is not intentionally executed, but Git cloning and archive indexing still consume local OS resources. CPU/RAM/network and peak disk are not fully isolated or globally capped. The unauthenticated backend is designed only for a trusted loopback workstation, not public Internet or multi-user deployment.
Source archives are generated by GitHub; no binaries are attached. Technical feedback and reproducible, non-sensitive bug reports are welcome.
