Release Notes

The TUI modernization release. 112 commits, 6 waves of architectural work, two
major performance rewrites, and a complete modal/focus system overhaul.

Added

  • ModalStack + FocusManager — proper modal/pane lifecycle with stack-based
    routing, eliminating ad-hoc boolean flags (P7, 8 slices).
  • TuiClock — deterministic time source for testable animations (P6.2).
  • Interaction tapes — JSON record/replay for deterministic UI test
    scenarios (P6.4).
  • Headless test harness — drives the real TUI dispatch surface without a
    terminal; bounded async executor for streaming scenarios (P6.1–P6.5).
  • TermCaps — terminal capability detection via DA1 queries; gates
    edge-scrub, sync-output, and Kitty graphics on actual terminal facts (P16).
  • Namespaced extension theme tokens — ext.<id>.<token> for per-plugin
    theming with per-part chrome overrides (P19).
  • Discord invite link in README.

Performance

  • Arc-share conversation messages (#128) — per-turn history copy overhead
    reduced from 4,536 KB to 0 KB (−100%). Every history clone is now a pointer
    bump. 13 golden byte-gate fixtures protect prompt-cache prefixes.
  • Lazy transcript virtualization (#241) — cold-resume renders reduced from
    1,000 to 21 (−97.9%), syntax highlights from 200 to 4 (−98.0%), first-frame
    RSS from 14.2 to 10.6 MB (−25.4%). ScrollAnchor + promote-on-touch model.
  • Combined real-world result: 70.8 → 30.7 MB PSS (−57%) on a 1,189-message
    session.

Changed

  • run() split (P12) — tui/mod.rs reduced from 2,597 to 443 lines.
    Boot prologue → run_setup.rs, input dispatch → dispatch.rs, stream
    handlers → stream_handler.rs.
  • ViewInputs seam (T199.2) — render-input boundary extracted, reconciling
    the view-model split after P7/P12.
  • Secret-prompt handling folded into ModalStack (P7.8).

Fixed

  • Plugin-category settings panic + category-to-index mis-map (PR#60 review).
  • Abort-path mutex ordering fix (PR#60 review).
  • 18 pre-existing clippy lints resolved (#240).
