Wrong camera view after identifying mode

After I exit identifying mode, I don't get the desired camera view. I have set the default cockpit view to "landing" in the sim, but when I get back from identifying, I get the "wide angle" view and have to manually switch to "landing" view. POPM is set to "cockpit center view" after popout. I can't say anything for real popout, as this just doesn't work for me (see #6), but I think the mechanism is the same. Is there a way to either get POPM to recognise the MSFS setting or let us set it in-app?

I don't think POPM can get back to your default landing view since I used SimConnect to control view and it can only reset to default "cockpit" view. And POPM need the view the reset after identifying and before pop out to get the camera view ready to switch around if needed. But in your case, after identifying (since you only have to do this once), can you try restarting your flight and see if POPM can pop out aircraft panels when the flight session starts again?

Unfortunately I can't test auto popout because I can't finish the identifying, as explained in #6.

Please try running POPM as administrator to see if it fixes the issue. Also, when you first downloaded POPM 2024, there was a Windows pop out that allow POPM to execute. In any case, POPM 2020 and POPM 2024 should work the same and this part of identifying function did not change between the two version. Something is blocking POPM 2024 from drawing the circles on your PC.

Pop out works without a problem now, but afterwards I get the instrument 1 view instead of the selected cockpit center view. So identifying and popout switch to different views after they finish. With identifying it is even a bit more complex: If the last view for identifying is "Cockpit Pilot" or one of the instrument views, I get the wide angle view on cockpit side afterwards, but if it was "Cockpit Copilot", it stays on the copilot side.

Tested your issue in Cessna 172. If I'm on copilot side after pop out, setting "Enable Return to Predefined Camera View After Pop Out" to cockpit center view in POPM preference returns my view to pilot side but zoomed in. I'm still trying to figure out how MSFS 2024 since it it buggy and different from aircraft to aircraft.

It really seems the issue is dependent of the aircraft. The view to instrument 1 and copilot was on the PC-12, but on the C172 I get the zoomed in pilot view. On the C208B I get a wide angle pilot view after popout, so each aircraft gives another "default" view. Is there any other way except of defining a custom view for each single aircraft?

I don't think there is a way around it until MS/Asobo fix this issue. I have received multiple reports that some default pilot view goes to the back of the plane for some aircraft and POPM can't control it. Other than defining a custom view for each aircraft, I don't think there is a fix for now. I hope future game update will resolve these camera issues or at least standardize zoom between different aircrafts.
