Character creation guide

Creating a custom character for Journey to the Center of Hawkthorne is easy. All new characters must have the following sprites before they back be accepted into the game. Sprites must be 48 * 48 pixels in size. Your final sheet should look similar to Abed's sprite sheet and follow the master sprite sheet layout.

Once your character is complete, submit it to /r/hawkthorne or open a pull request.

Standing

Abed Standing

Idle sprites when a character is standing still.

Walk

Abed Walking

Jump

Abed Jumping

Attack

Abed Jumping

Crouch

Abed Jumping

Look

Abed Looking

Hurt

Abed Hurt

Death

Abed Dead

Acquire Item

Abed Acquire

Hold and Throw Item

Abed Holding Items

Shoot Arrows

Abed Arrows

Fly In

Abed Flyin

This sprite is rotated for the 'fly-in' effect during the intro video.

Push

Abed Pushing

Pull

Abed Pulling

Optional Sprites

Kneel

Abed Pulling

Kneeling isn't featured in the game. It may be used in cutscenes when a character is talking after being hit.

Interacting

Abed Pulling

For most characters, their interact animation is the same as their attack animation. However, some characters have a different animation, such as Abed.

Dig

Pierce Digging

Digging won't be included in the game (for now). Pierce is the only character with these sprites.

Slide

Jeff Sliding

In the episode, Jeff slides around when trying to attack characters. There is no plan right now to add sliding to the game.

Kick

Jeff Kicking

This is an alternate attack animation, which may be used in game.

Punch

Jeff Punching

This is an alternate attack animation, which may be used in game.
