Puzzle Boy Community Edition v0.1.0
Download the archive for your system, unpack it anywhere and run PuzzleBoyCommunity (PuzzleBoyCommunity.exe on Windows). You don't need Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne, Steam, .NET or a network connection: the game, its stages, fonts, default theme and sound are all in the archive, and none of it comes from Nocturne. It plays out of the box with the bundled Default theme. If you own Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, the optional Classic Nocturne theme plays every stage in the original minigame's look and sound: Settings, Classic Nocturne, Import from My Steam Install copies what it needs from your own copy into your data folder, once, and Export My Classic Pack carries it to your other computers. That pack is yours alone; don't share it. No release ever ships or downloads an Atlus asset. SHA256SUMS lists each archive's hash.
The builds are unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may say it protected your PC: choose More info, then Run anyway. macOS Gatekeeper blocks apps from unidentified developers: before the first run, open Terminal in the unpacked folder and run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ., then ./PuzzleBoyCommunity. On Linux and macOS the archive keeps the executable bit; if a tool dropped it, run chmod +x PuzzleBoyCommunity.
Tested so far. In this release's CI run, each archive below was unpacked into an empty profile and passed the headless smoke test. On macOS (arm64 and x64) and on Linux x64 (under Xvfb) it also opened a real window, drew the title and stage 1, took a step and ran the automated tour (stage select, settings, editor, pack export and import). GitHub's Windows runner has no OpenGL, so there CI checks only the headless test; on a Windows 11 PC with an empty profile and no .NET, the window and the same tour passed. Linux has also run under WSLg, not yet on a Linux desktop. Nobody has played a macOS or Linux build by hand, or a whole release build through.
OpenAL Soft. The openal.dll, libopenal.so and libopenal.dylib in each archive are OpenAL Soft, under the GNU LGPL 2.0 or later. Its source is at https://github.com/kcat/openal-soft/tree/dc7d7054a5b4f3bec1dc23a42fd616a0847af948, and you may replace the library with your own build. THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt beside the game has every library's license.
