DS4Updater 2.0.6 — Future-ready Portable Updates
DS4Windows release candidates no longer need a new updater version just to recognize each new release number.
- Resolves the expected application version from the release's hash-verified
RELEASE-BUILD.json, including VIIPERRC4.5.3 and future RC versions using the same release format. - Keeps exact release/package identity checks, SHA-256 verification, downgrade protection, and the existing transactional portable update path.
- Verifies the staged application, installed application, and the application opened after updating against the same resolved identity.
- Supports the release workflow's numeric version format as well as named release candidates. Invalid metadata is rejected; it never silently falls back to weaker checks.
DS4Windows RC4.5.2 and newer obtain this updater through the verified portable bootstrap. For the initial upgrade from RC4.5.1 or older, close DS4Windows and extract the complete latest portable ZIP into a new folder, then copy your profiles/settings.
The safe portable update path remains x64. Both x64 and x86 updater downloads are provided; this release does not add x86 portable-update support. No new VIIPER version is required.
Validation: 313 automated tests passed, zero failures or skips, including a filesystem transaction using the unchanged published RC4.5.1 ZIP. These tests are not a claim of launched-worker or controller hardware acceptance.
The executable is unsigned. GitHub asset hashes and build records provide integrity verification, not a digital-signature claim.
