Report data for multi-frequency devices
V4.0.4 corrects frequency reporting for multi-frequency devices. If the field named "freq" is not present in the JSON packet, the value associated with the field name "freq1" is used, if present. If neither field is present, the frequency value is set to 0.0.
V4.0.3 corrects the assignment of username/password for sites that deploy the MQTT broker with username/password authentication. The edits are noted in comments as '4.0.3' and are in 'set_params()' in a small section of code that assigns args.username and args.password.
V4.0.2 was a minor update that removed Paho-MQTT callback V1 support and uses the V2 callback protocol instead. The next major release of Paho-MQTT will not support V1 callback protocol at all, and current Mac OSX (Tahoe) and Raspberry Pi OS (Trixie) distributions now both support V2 callbacks.
If you need to use V1 callback protocol because your OS doesn't offer the current Paho-MQTT release, invoke the prior version, rtl_watch.4.0.1. Check your Paho_MQTT version with check_paho_version.

rtl_watch V4.0.2
This is a minor update that removes Paho-MQTT callback V1 support and uses the V2 callback protocol instead. The next major release of Paho-MQTT will not support V1 callback protocol at all, and current Mac OSX (Tahoe) and Raspberry Pi OS (Trixie) distributions now both support V2 callbacks.

v4.0 adds HTTP streaming support
v4.0 of rtl_watch adds the option to use an HTTP stream from the rtl_433 server as an alternative to MQTT as the data source. For those who don't want to, or haven't, set up mosquito service on their rtl_433 server, just adding output httpto the rtl_433.conf file will enable HTTP service and allow rtl_watch to monitor the devices in your neighborhood.
Statistics are computed as in v3 (no changes). A bug that caused rtl_watch to always ignore TPMS records has been corrected (use the -t switch to rtl_watch to enable inclusion of TPMS records).
v3.0
v3.0 of rtl_watch introduces threaded processes and inter-process message queues in order to avoid missing packets and to provide more accurate signal statistics.
Earlier versions did not separate the message processing from the main procedure, and messages were missed as a result. By using a separate thread for message processing and display updating, messages are now accounted for correctly when validated against the rtl_433 server logs.
Expanded signal analysis in V2; paho-mqtt workaround in v2.1
V2.0.0 was available last year but not published. It features:
- Additional analyses of packet signals (now including, for each device, the number of packets, number of transmissions (observations), SNR mean and std dev, Freq mean and std dev, inter-transmission timing gap (time between transmissions) mean and std dev, and number of packets per transmission mean and std dev.
- Additional control over the types of packets analyzed and data displayed
- Standardized use of command-line parameter setting and use of environment variables and removal of requirement to edit code to supply parameters.
V2.1.0 Addresses a coding incompatibility introduced by v2 of paho-mqtt. rtl_watch uses v1-style callback invocations, which are incompatible with new installations of v2 of paho-mqtt. V2.1.0 of rtl_watch includes a work-around so that the code will function on systems that have either v1 or v2 of paho-mqtt installed. rtl_watch still uses v1-style invocations, and paho-mqtt v2 complains that those calls are deprecated, but the code functions. Until there is more wide-spread use of V2 of paho-mqtt, rtl_watch will continue to use V1-style callback invocation.
