🚀 Major Changes
Streaming as Default Output
- Legacy polling code fully removed; streaming is now the default output path internally and via ACP
- Streaming responses working end-to-end via ACP and UI with e2e-ui tests
- aoctl binary streaming logic fixed for agent sessions
ACP Protocol Implementation
- Full ACP standard implementation in the ACP endpoint and
aoctlbinary aoctl acp configureandaoctl acp servecommands for Zed editor integration- Federated OIDC support for admin endpoint access via aoctl
Hindsight Integration for Persistent Agent Intelligence
- Added hindsight mechanism enabling agents to retain and learn from previous interactions
- Agents become progressively smarter over longer runs by recalling past conversations and tool calls
- Integrated with context management via
ContextCompactionRatioandcompactionTarget()to retain relevant history while preventing memory bloat - LLM responses are processed through hindsight during streaming to build persistent context
- Enables agents to build on previous work rather than repeating steps, improving decision-making in extended sessions
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Context compaction: Fixed live buffer growing unboundedly during tool-call loops; added
capLiveBufferDuringToolLoop()to compact at proactive threshold - Token stream cap: Raised Redis token/trace-event stream cap from 10,000 to 100,000 entries to prevent front-trimming on replay for long runs
- Tool result truncation: Stopped silently truncating large tool results; context-window-aware
MaxToolResultTokensdefault (~10% of model context window, 8k-64k range) - Warm pod reuse: Fixed warm pods not returned to idle after completion; pods now reused across chat turns instead of spawning fresh each turn
- Conversation persistence: Checkpoint now runs on terminal text turn/
[DONE]so short chats (< CheckpointEvery) are persisted - MCP auth: Fixed warm-pool router config omitting MCP auth resolution for remote HTTP MCP servers (e.g., Slack → -32001 missing_token)
- Nil pointer: Fixed nil-pointer panic in MCP HTTP client on transport errors
- Swallowed errors: Fixed
ArchiveRunsilently swallowing PostgreSQL errors - ListenAndServe: Fixed ignored
ListenAndServeerror - Streaming tool dispatch: Fixed streaming tool calls dispatching on
len>0notfinishReason; normalized[DONE]sentinel handling - UI multi-namespace: Fixed UI tenant scoping to list resources across all authorized namespaces (not just tenant.Namespace)
⚡ Performance & Reliability
- Async context compaction: Implemented asynchronous context compaction with incremental token tracking (
liveBufferTokenscached counter, spawnCompactionbackground goroutine) - Proactive truncation: Configurable compaction target (default 50%, settable to 10%) decoupled from 80% safety ceiling
- Efficient summaries: Compaction summaries reduced from ~300-500 tokens to ~100-200 tokens
- Loop guards: Conservative defaults added (MaxRepeatedToolCalls=50, MaxConsecutiveNoopTurns=15) to halt stuck loops instead of spinning
- Stream cap: Token stream cap increased 10x to survive very long runs
🔧 Developer Experience
- CI fixes: Fixed release-drafter and enforce-pr-to-main workflows; all GitHub MCP tools enabled for programming-agent demo
- Lint: Fixed all 119 golangci-lint issues including 3 real bugs;
go vet ./...clean - Branch protection: Added branch naming convention check + comprehensive branch protection workflow (enforce PR-only merges to main)
- Toolchain: Added
misetoolchain config (.mise.toml) pinning Go 1.25.3, Node 20, Make 4.4, helm 3.14; removed devcontainers - Documentation: Added KNOWN_ISSUES.md tracker, context management guide, architecture diagram updates
- Dead code removal: Removed ~310 lines of unused router safeguard functions, write-only state fields, orphaned aoctl helpers
- Deprecated APIs: Replaced
result.Requeue,NewSimpleClientsetwith modern equivalents
📦 Infrastructure
- Container images: Updated all references from
ghcr.io/agentorca/agent-orcatoghcr.io/heddles/agent-orca - PostgreSQL: Added PostgreSQL for proper RBAC and historical data aggregation
- Model providers: Added query/doc prompts to ModelProvider CRDs for RAG efficiency
- OAuth MCP: Generic OAuth credential manager for OAuth-only MCP servers (Slack, etc.)
- Metrics: Fixed metrics endpoint exposure; added ServiceMonitors/PodMonitors
🔒 Security
- Branch protection: Enforced PR-only merges to main with required checks
- Privileged pods: Fail-closed gate for privileged pod overrides (namespace label + guardrail policy ref required)
- Secret scanning: Proper RBAC and secret management for OAuth tokens
