Danish: the texts and guide passages new in 1.107.0 (#827): Soft light with its hint, and the guide's passages on soft light, the cut in the background, closing small holes and the Gridfinity lip chamfer. By @Henrikth12.
Danish: the guide passages that were never translated (#841): Compared chapter by chapter with the English guide: the Japanese letters in Text (and eight typefaces, not seven), parking parts beside the plate in Printing, the standing ruler in Measuring and notes, the cut-off bundle entry and a mistranslated sentence on bundle holes in Solids and holes, and smaller passages in Shapes, Select and arrange and Offline. Eight paragraphs that stood twice in View and workplane are gone. By @Henrikth12.
A pattern can group its pieces (#828): The Pattern tool made every copy a shape of its own, so a ring of 35 pieces had to be selected and grouped by hand. The Pattern window now has Group the copies: with it ticked, Create groups the original and the copies in the same step, through the same off-thread Group as the button (buildGroupedShapeOffThread), as an ordinary group that Ungroup and Edit group open again. Above 5 pieces the box ticks itself and unticks at 5 or fewer, until the person sets it (groupCopies, arrayGroupsCopies in shapeArray.ts); a ruler stays loose, and if grouping fails the pieces come in loose with the reason. One Undo takes it all back. layerling_array_objects takes group: true for the same (left out, the pieces stay loose). Text in English and the six complete languages; the guide (Select and arrange, German and English) describes it. Unit test in shapeArray.test.ts. Contributed by @AbhiRoutray21.
Select other: reach a shape behind another (#804): A hole inside a body, or a part behind another, could only be clicked after turning the view, or picked in the object list. When more than one shape lies under the pointer, the right-click menu (and a long press on a tablet) now has Select other…: it lists every shape the ray under the pointer passes through, front to back, each once (shapesUnderPointer in viewportPicking.ts, with the same rules as a click: in front of the section plane, no locked reference image). The row the pointer or the focus is on outlines its shape through whatever stands in front, with the History view's marking in a layer of its own (syncPickHighlight, highlightIds on the viewport); a click selects it, Shift adds it. The menu scrolls when the list is long. Texts in every language; the guide (Select and arrange, German and English) describes it. Asked for by @raradek, the way Onshape and Fusion do it described by @ssmeier-gmail.
The framing square is kept with the design (#829): The framing square lived only in the open view (toolMemory), so a reload or opening the design again took it away, and lining it up on the grid again shifted every measure taken from it. It is now kept like the saved views: per design in the browser (layerling.cornerRulers.<id>, lib/cornerRulerStore.ts) and in the .lyl file under editor.cornerRulers, which older readers pass over; a file opened or a backup restored brings it back. It comes back where it was, on its workplane, turned the same way, with its endpoint/midpoint modes and whether bodies hide it; the × removes it from the design too. It stays out of the undo history, as a tool. The guide (Measuring and notes, German and English) says so. Unit tests in cornerRulerStore.test.ts; tried in the editor: set, reloaded (the handle at the same pixel), saved as .lyl (it is in the file) and removed. Asked for by @Wes711 and @Gpic2030.
The framing square shows sizes only for bodies at its arms (#831): A body that is not selected gets its sizes at the framing square when it stands at an arm. The test only looked at how far the body lies across the arm, not whether it lies beside it: a body that touched the corner from outside the square, or lay behind it on an arm's extension, kept its length and width on screen after it was deselected. Now a body counts only when it reaches along the arm's length and to its inner side, or across it (cornerRulerDimensionMatchesFromCorner, which takes the second arm's direction from the drawn arm); the straight ruler is unchanged. The guide (Measuring and notes, German and English) says so. Unit tests with all four sides of the corner in rulerDimensions.test.ts; tried in the editor: a 40 x 30 box at the corner from outside shows nothing, one inside at an arm its size. Reported by @willi1955.
Add Image works at once in a new sketch (#833): A new sketch starts with the line tool, and Add Image was greyed out until Select was chosen, so a reference image could not go in before drawing without that detour. The button and its command are now always available: a click switches to Select itself, as a click on the arrow would (a line just begun is let go), and opens the picker. The guide (Sketches, German and English) says so. Tried in the editor: a new extrude sketch with the line tool and a first point set, Add Image switched to Select and put the picture in. Asked for by @blueeagle69.
A group under a sketch shows its parts' outlines also when they are fine (#834): Under a sketch each body is drawn by its outline, but a body with more than 20,000 triangles only by its box. For a group that limit counted the whole group: a knurl and a bolt, each well under it, came to 27,320 triangles together, and their union showed as one square while each on its own showed round. The limit now counts per part (groupMeshFootprint), and a part over it shows as its own box, the others keep their outlines. Unit test in sketchReferenceOutline.test.ts; tried in the editor with a knurl and a bolt grouped: two round outlines. Reported by @willi1955.
Attachments: files kept with a design (#820): Instructions, a parts list or a few notes had no place in a design except the notes, which are short labels (2000 characters, pinned to a body). A design can now carry files. Attachments (a paperclip in the Manage toolbar, also in the simple toolbar, with a small dot while there are any) opens a panel with one button, Upload attachment, and the list of the files with Download and Remove; the row asks once more before it removes. To begin with .md and .txt: UTF-8 text, 2 MB a file, 16 files and 8 MB together (ATTACHMENT_TYPES and ATTACHMENT_LIMITS in projectAttachments.ts; another type is another row of that table). A name that is already attached is neither added silently nor refused: the panel offers Replace (the attached file keeps its place, its id and its name), Rename (it suggests the first free name, notes 2.md, and checks what is typed) or leaving the file out; names count the same in upper and lower case, and the same file again changes nothing. The files are saved in the design's .lyl package as assets of a new kind, attachment, listed under attachments in project.json, and they travel the way assets do: through the editor, the start page's storage of a design, the server autosave, the export window, "Back up all designs", duplicating a design and a new design made from a history state. They are not part of the undo history, and "Insert into this design", custom shapes and the bug report leave them out. Format version 3 is written only for a design that has attachments (minimumReaderVersion 3): an older layerling refuses it instead of opening it and dropping the files at its next save, and every other design is still a version 2 file, byte for byte. docs/LYL_PROJECT_FORMAT.md and the guide (Files and saving, in English, German, French, Dutch, Czech, Slovenian and Russian) describe it; texts in those languages. Unit tests in projectAttachments.test.ts and lylAttachments.test.ts (types and content checks, names, limits, round trip, version 2 unchanged without files, every refusal, rename on the start page); tried in the editor: uploading two files, the prompt for a name that is taken with Replace and Rename, an invalid name, the question before Remove, and the files still there after a reload and in the package stored in the browser. Not tried in the editor yet: a shared server folder, backup and restore, and duplicating a design. Contributed by @jbuggie.
A double click on the workplane centres the view there (#840): A double click on empty workplane slides the view, eased like a turn of the view cube, until that spot is in the middle of the screen. The spot also becomes the pivot, so the view turns around it from then on; the angle and the distance stay. It counts on the workplane drawn now (on a face, inside its plate) or on the level of the base plate, also beside the plate, nearest first; the camera clamp lets the pivot stay on a spot beside the plate until the house button (focusReach, as Center view does). On a body, towards the horizon (more than 9000 mm away), or while a tool takes the clicks (tape measure, notes, picks), nothing moves. With reduced motion the view jumps there. A new setting Double-click on the workplane centres the view there (Appearance, on by default; WorkplaneWorkspaceSettings.doubleClickCentersView) sits beside the two other double-click switches. The slide is a PivotSlide in viewCubeTransition.ts, stepped by stepCameraTurn, so a drag cuts it short as it does a turn (panCameraTo in cameraRig.ts). The 3D view's double-click handling moved out of WorkplaneViewport.tsx into useViewportDoubleClick.ts. Texts in every language; the guide (View and workplane, every language: the mouse table, and the settings paragraph where a language has it) describes it. Unit tests in doubleClickPan.test.ts; tried in the editor: a double click on the plate slides the spot to the middle, on a body, after a selection frame and with the setting off nothing moves. Contributed by @gogades.
Align in the sketch (#836): Two circles for a ring could only be centred on each other by hand: a typed width keeps the outline's top left corner, so a resized circle moved off the other's middle. With two or more outlines selected, the sketch's selection bar now has Align left, Centre left and right, Align right, Align top, Centre top and bottom and Align bottom (alignSketchSelection in lib/sketchAlign.ts). An outline is the selected points that lines join; each moves as a whole, handles with it, and they line up on the frame round all of them; a locked outline stays and the others line up on the locked ones. One undo step. Texts in every language; the guide (Sketches, German and English) describes it. Unit tests in sketchAlign.test.ts; tried in the editor: a rectangle moved off a circle and centred both ways lies on it again. Asked for by @lukyanenkomax.
A round button locks Select multiple on a touch screen (#843): A tablet has no Shift key, and selecting several bodies took a long press and Select multiple from its menu. As in Tinkercad, a round button now shows in the lower left as soon as a finger picks a body (TouchMultiSelectButton, showsTouchMultiSelect). A tap on it locks Select multiple: every further tap on a body adds it to the selection or takes it out, as Shift does, and a tap on empty space keeps the mode and the selection (the finger may turn the view there). A second tap on the button ends the mode, clears the selection and puts the button away; a new body, a tool that takes the taps itself (workplane, tape, align, mirror, split, framing square, face picks ...) and a mouse or a pen end it too. The guide (Tablet and touch, German and English) says so. Unit test in touchMultiSelect.test.ts; tried with touch events on three boxes: lock, add two, take one out, a tap on empty space keeps two, a second tap on the button clears it all, and a mouse click shows no button. Contributed by @crazykay (it replaces #839, which held the button with one finger).
