Releases: hexide-io/HexIDE
Release list
v0.2.0
An open, cross-platform recreation of the Visual Basic 6 IDE. Alpha.
⚠️ HexIDE opens and runs real VB6 projects, and a save now gives back the file it read:
21 of the 22 designer files VB6 itself ships survive a save byte for byte, and the one it
cannot — an ActiveX form — opens read-only rather than being quietly rewritten. Keep a backup
anyway: that measure is Microsoft's own templates, not your project.
What a save changes

Which download?
hexide-<platform>-selfcontained.*— no prerequisites. Start here.hexide-<platform>.*— smaller, but needs the .NET 10 desktop runtime installed.
Nothing here is signed or notarised.
Windows shows a SmartScreen warning: More info → Run anyway.
macOS — extract in Terminal with tar -xzf <file>.tar.gz. Unpacking with Finder
instead applies a quarantine flag that an unsigned app cannot clear.
Linux self-contained still needs the distro's libX11, libICE, libSM and fontconfig.
v0.1.0
An open, cross-platform recreation of the Visual Basic 6 IDE. Alpha.
⚠️ Saving is not yet round-trip faithful. A save can delete.frxbinary companions and
rewrite class settings you never touched. Work on a copy — not on a project you care about.
