Slinky 1.1.0

@heyderekj heyderekj released this 22 Oct 21:20

Sync between your Macs

Settings › Sync. Choose a folder your sync service keeps on every Mac, like one in iCloud Drive or Dropbox. Slinky puts an encrypted copy of your vault there and your sync service moves it. It opens only with your Recovery Key or on a Mac you've set up, and Slinky itself sends nothing anywhere. On your other Mac, choose the same folder and enter your Recovery Key once. Changes come together item by item.

Projects from folders, done properly

  • New Project and Update from Folder show what's new, what changed and what's the same, environment by environment, before anything is saved. Only what you check goes in, and Undo takes it back.
  • Reads apps inside a folder (apps/web/.env.local), finds key files like .p8, and handles multi-line values such as private keys.
  • Drop a folder or .env on the Projects heading to make a new project, or on a project to update it.

Importing

  • Reads LastPass, KeePass and Bitwarden exports (custom fields too), finds keys inside notes, and takes text files.
  • Rename things before importing. Undo takes the whole import back. Dropping an export on the window opens Import.

A new look

  • Sidebar tiles like Apple Passwords, search in the toolbar, a solid window, roomier rows.
  • The toolbar steps away while a panel is open.

Smaller things

  • ⌘1–⌘7 for the places, ⌘E to edit, ⇧⌘C to copy as NAME=value, ⌥⌘C to copy a name.
  • "Last used" and recent history in an item's details. Click an Activity line to go to it.
  • Rename a variable, switch it between secret and public, copy or move it to another project.
  • Select several items to delete or change them together.
  • Print recovery codes, put back a code you used by mistake, and reminders to make a backup.
  • slinky lock, slinky open, slinky example, and a fish shell hook.

Slinky is signed but not notarized yet: the first time, open it from System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway.

The first release. Keeps API keys, project .env variables, recovery codes and developer files out of files. Opens with Touch ID. Agents and the slinky command use your keys without seeing them. Health finds keys left in files, git history and chats. Pick where each key lives.
