The issue I’m currently encountering is that clips dragged in from other tracks do not automatically snap into place.
Proposed solution
When Magnetic Timeline is enabled, the main track should support seamless, automatic repositioning of clips. Clips should remain continuously connected without gaps, black frames, or manual alignment.
Requested Behavior
Automatic seamless joining
Multiple clips on the main track should automatically align to the left and attach directly to the preceding clip.
There should be zero gaps and no unintended black frames.
Any new clip dragged onto the end of the main track should automatically snap into place without requiring manual alignment.
Automatic repositioning after deletion or trimming
When a clip in the middle of the main track is deleted, all following clips should automatically move forward to fill the gap.
When an earlier clip is shortened, the following clips should automatically move forward and remain directly connected.
Automatic space creation when inserting clips
When a new clip is dragged between two existing clips, the surrounding clips should automatically move apart to create space.
After insertion, all clips should remain seamlessly connected with no gaps.
Usability and Urgency
This behavior is essential for an efficient timeline editing workflow. Manually closing gaps or realigning clips after every deletion, trim, or insertion is slow, repetitive, and error-prone.
